Worse case, you can always buy someone a gift card!

Sanyo’s Eneloop Rechargeable Battery Powered Bike

Eneloop Bike SeriesSanyo’s new application for their Eneloop range of rechargeable batteries is their bike series – a fairly standard electric bike where the battery is charged up while you cycle and the power is released by pressing a button on the handlebars.

At this point the bike goes into ‘all-wheel’ mode, i.e. both wheels will be powered instead of just the rear wheel on a standard bicycle. What differentiates this bike from other electric ones is that it manages to charge the battery even whilst you’re slowing down – that extra power does help in the long run too.

Porta-Jump – The Perfect Solution to a Dead Battery?

It’s cold at the moment and I mean really cold. Times like this you can’t afford to have your car fail on your (even if it does slip and slide all over the ice). If you’re worried about this happening to your car then you should invest in a jump starter.

These can often be recharged at home, kept in your boot, and taken out to jump your battery in an emergency. Problem is, they are often rather heavy instruments.

A product that offers a solution to this is the Porta-Jump; it’s a similar sort of thing to every other rechargeable jump starter out there except it’s tiny. …

Definitive Technology Shows Off Mindblowingly Thin Speaker System

Definitive Technology Mythos SpeakerWhen OLED technology became mainstream TVs slimmed down very quickly with competitors trying to out-do each other on a weekly basis. One thing that’s never particularly caught up with this slim TV phase is slim speakers to match.

It’s all very well have floor speakers that are huge, but when you’ve got your TV on your wall and want to put some uber slim speakers up there too it’s difficult to find them.

The Mythos XTR-50 from Definitive Technology will hopefully change that as they are offering speakers at just 38mm thick for wall-mounting next to your TV. They come in different set ups to allow for them at the sides of the TV, underneath it, or on stands dotted around your room.

It’s a well-known fact that if you choose a slim TV you undoubtedly sacrifice sound quality so adding this speakers to your home theatre set up will allow you to keep the slim looks and not compromise that all important sound. …

BioLogic ReeCharge Portable Rechargeable Battery Pack

BioLogic ReeChargeCharging your gadgets via solar panels is old news and, to be honest, so is charging your gadgets when cycling. However, the BioLogic ReeCharge from Dahon deserves a mention here just for doing it just a little bit cooler than others.

The ReeCharge is a 1600 mAh Lithium Battery that gets strapped to your bike and plugged into your dynamo (not included). When you’re cycling around in the day you won’t need to use your light and so you can instead use the power being generated by your dynamo and store it in this battery. …

Actron Launches New Scanner, Mechanics Weep

2 years ago we reported on the CarMD that could tell you what was wrong with your car if a fault light came up on your dashboard. This was already looking a little dated in 2010 so we’ve got a new one for you: the ActronCP9180 Scanner. This little beauty will tell you in a matter of seconds what’s wrong with your car (assuming it’s newer than 1996) and comes in a ugly fetching orange and blue (at least it’ll be hard to lose).

The scanner has a USB connection available for you to hook up to the internet and download new codes (future-proofing your device) as well as being able to dump the data on to your laptop. …

Roomba’s Got Competition – Introducing Mint

A few years ago we reported on Roomba – a robot for cleaning your floors. Robotics is a fast evolving industry and they’ve now got a very viable competitor to worry about; the Mint.

This nifty little device will mop or sweep any hard floors, but generally designed to be used on wood. All you need to do is switch on the device and drop the NorthStar in the room and it’ll get straight to work. …

Sony Bloggie Handheld Camcorder – Flip competitor

Just as we thought the Flip Mino HD had taken the whole market for ultra-portable camcorders, Sony has fought back and offered the Bloggie. Their 5MP handheld camcorder has a 1920×1080 HD recording resolution and displays on a 2.5-inch LCD screen.

There are a few different models available, all with varying specs and colors but none of them stand out as being better than the Flip series.

In fact, it would be quite possible to say that the Flip series and Sony Bloggie series are pretty much identical. The price is the same, the resolution near enough, and the only difference comes when you start looking at aperture sizes (and that classic Sony styling)!

If Sony are hoping people will buy purely because of their branding, it’s a risky bet. Those loyal to Sony are likely to be from slightly older generations, i.e. those that have a need for a full-sized camcorder not a portable one. With the Flip being seen as so cool and desirable amongst the younger generations they have a lot to live up to. Good luck Sony.

AutoChron Offers Smart Home for $30

Autochron Wall Switch TimerOne of the things I feel is holding back the ‘smart house’ revolution is that (many times) to install all the proper gadgetry you would need to get your house rewired and re-plastered – not a cheap option by all means!

AutoChron seems to have come up with a solution to this by offering an automatic and programmable timer that can be slipped on over your existing wall switches and be used to control them without having to do any messy and invasive work to your walls. You can therefore use this piece of hardware to control anything with a switch from your lights to your fan. …
