Review: Veho Muvi X-Lapse

Veho Muvi X-Lapse British electronics & accessories maker, Veho, has a neat gadget called the Muvi X-Lapse that allows you to take panoramic time-lapse photos. I had a chance to test one out courtesy of accessories seller, MobileFun.

The X-Lapse itself is a fairly small, circular gadget that you can hold easily in one hand. By holding, the bottom white portion with the time markers, you can twist the upper black portion until you get to the amount of time and coincidentally the # of degrees of panorama you’d like to shoot. It’s hard-coded, so to speak, to go 360° in 1 hour, and similarly, 180° in 30 minutes, etc.

Going to College? Make Sure These Gadgets Are In Your Bag

If you’re heading off to college for the first time, it’s essential that you know what you need to take with you. If you’re already in college, you may find that things are a bit lacking, but can’t quite put your finger on what. Technological gadgets are an absolute must for the modern college student, but which should you pack and which should you leave behind?

We’ve made the decision an easy one! Here are our top five gadgets no college student should be without:

My New MacBook

1. Laptop

Sure, you can use your Kindle Fire as a quasi-tablet, and yes, you may have an iPad, but, when it comes down to it, nothing is going to serve you better in college than a laptop. Thanks to their popularity, and the shrinking use of home desktops, laptops are more affordable than ever. From taking notes to completing assignments; listening to music to watching videos, a laptop offers everything you need in one compact piece of machinery.

SleepTracker Pro Elite Sleep Monitor

Review: Sleeptracker Elite – Sleep Monitor Watch

SleepTracker Pro Elite Sleep MonitorOver 4 years ago, we reviewed the first Sleeptracker sleep phase wrist-watch alarm product. Since then Innovative Sleep Solutions has come out with some newer versions of the Sleeptracker, including the Sleeptracker Elite, which comes in two color variations – for men and women.

Here’s my review of the new Sleeptracker Elite. The Elite (for men) now comes with some blue trim and a rectangular body as compared to the white trim but more rounded classic Sleeptracker.

Handheld Body Fat Analyzers

This gadget just smacks of ‘Made in China on a “3rd shift”‘! For just $10, this handheld device measures your body fat percentage, and is also a clock and an alarm clock. Ha! It can also stores 8 different sets of data. What’s scary is that it can apparently measure from 5 to 50%. Can you imagine having a 50% body fat %?

On the other hand, this body fat analyzer by Hivox looks more legit. Of course, so is the price ($67). It also remembers 8 different profiles and shows you graphical versions of body fat types.

ZZZ Checker – monitors and analyzes your sleep

Add another sleep analysis gadget to the growing list. This time around, Japanese company Spec Computer has a product that does not require you to wear a wristband. Instead the ZZZ Checker uses audio and visual sensors to tell what you’re doing.

This is not a tool like the aXbo alarm clock that wakes you up at optimum points during your sleep cycle. However, it records things like snoring, teeth grinding, tossing and figures out if your sleep is light, medium or deep.

You can transfer the data from the ZZZ Checker to your PC and analyze with the included software.

Sorry sleep-deprived Westerners, but it’s currently only available in Japan, although if the display is any clue, they’ve probably designed it with English speakers in mind too. If you’d like to get your hands on something similar, take a look at the SleepTracker Pro Watch.

Here’s an attractive piece of electronics to grace your kitchen or living room. Useful too. It’s a wireless weather station that displays the indoor and outdoor temperature and relative humidity, and with its built-in accurate local weather tendency indicator, you’ll be able to see at a glance whether it will be sunny out or if there’s rain in the forecast. It gets its time via radio signals from the U. S. Atomic Clock in Boulder, Colorado, so you know it’s accurate.

Keurig B70 Gourmet Single-Cup Home Brewing System

Keurig B70 Gourmet Single-Cup Home Brewing System

40 seconds until heaven…

After inserting a pod looking pre-measured K-Cup full of freshly roasted Arabica beans and pressing a button, it only takes the Keurig B70 Gourmet Brewing System 40 seconds to create a cup ‘o joe.

With an increased 60 ounce water reservoir, lazy geeks like myself don’t have to refill the water supply after every cup or two but we can wait for 5 to 10 cups before having to refill. This top of the line model also supports cup sizes from 6 ounces up to 12 ounces for those caffeine needy people.

Finally, with programmable on/off support, you can decide to wake up to the smell of caffeine in the morning… much more soothing than those darn noisy alarm clocks.
