Emergency USB Charger – for phone, MP3 player, etc.

Emergency Charger for iPhone, iPod, Mobile Phone, etcHere’s another emergency USB charger, this one powered by 2 AA batteries. Not a bad deal for under $10, and it includes a tiny built-in LED light for grins.

However, I can’t say I love the idea of using batteries. I’d rather have it either use a rechargeable battery or even better, be solar rechargeable (like the iTech SolarCharger).

AmpliTube iRigComputers have been helping musicians for decades now, particularly as once very expensive studio equipment have been turned into software for convenient and easy home use. If you’ve been playing guitar for a while, you might remember the myriad of effects boxes you needed to tune your guitar sound. Well, software (like AmpliTube) has helped guitarists and bassists to eliminate or at least simplify their gear.

Now, IK Multimedia has put out a version of AmpliTube for the iPhone. It needs an adapter accessory called the AmpliTube iRig which plugs into your iPhone and you plug your guitar into the iRig ($39.99).

The screenshots alone are amazing as there are 3 stompboxes (effects), 1 amp+cabinet and 2 mics in the free version of AmpliTube. There is also an LE version ($2.99) and a Full version ($19.99) which comes with 11 stompboxes, 5 amps+cabinets and 2 mics.

WWDC Keynote wrap-up

WDC '10 Steve Jobs took the stage in his typical fashion wearing Levi’s 501 jeans, a St. Croix black mock turtleneck and New Balance 991 shoes to a standing ovation then WWDC started with his typical phrase: “It’s great to be here!”

Then the Reality Distortion Field spun up as Job’s provided some updates concerning iPad sales starting with an email quote he received stating that the iPad was indeed magical:

“I was sitting in a cafe with my iPad, and it got a girl interested in me. Now that’s what I call a magical device!”

iPad sales have topped 2M units sold which is equivalent to an iPad sale every 3 seconds. Since this is the Developer Conference Job’s made sure to mention that there are now 8.5K iPad-specific apps with 35M downloads representing 17 apps per iPad. Wolfram Associates, the developer of The Elements, earned more on the first day than 5 years of google ads on periodictable.com.

Multiple Device Charger Organizer

multiple device charger organizerHow does that saying go? If you’ve got 1 gadget, you’ve got 10? Maybe not, but you know what we’re getting at! Chances are you’ve easily got more than a few cell phones, iPods and PDAs competing for what seems like way too few power outlets.

Here’s a nice, tidy solution that lets you charge up to 3 gadgets simultaneously – the Desktop Family Charging Station. The nook in the rear keeps the adapter cords nice and clean and out of sight.

The Desktop Family Charging Station can also be wall mounted.

Pre-Order Star Trek TNG DS9 PADD

Welcome to the future and the next evolution of the iPad by pre-ordering this Star Trek PADD (Personal Access Display Device). I’m not sure, but the PADD may not be ready for shipment until 2364 even though the site says it’s shipping in June 2010.

The Star Trek PADD is a large touchscreen display with minimalistic manual interface of one or two buttons much like the iPad. The design is but the tip of the iceberg however as the typical PADD can be used for anything from logging manifests, compiling duty rosters or diagnostic reports or seemly everything, entering personal data and access library computer systems.

I hope the PADD comes with an extra sarium krellide power cell!
