Rosendahl Alarm Clock

Rosendahl Alarm Clock

There is something very satisfying about the simple shiny black cube design of this alarm clock from Rosendahl. Like the pyramids of Giza or the enigmatic monolith from 2001, basic geometric shapes can often project a strong, timeless message. This one clearly says, “I own a very 1337 alarm clock and, so sad, you do not.” We like that message.

High functionality is at the core of Rosendahl’s new series of timepieces. This alarm clock has a digital display, a snooze function and it lights up automatically when the alarm is set. It also has a blue backlight display. Designed by Flemming Bo Hansen. Integrated crystal and case made of polycarbonate crystal.

Wake & Shake Alarm Clock

Wake & Shake Alarm Clock

Using an alarm clock to wake up can be more difficult than it sounds for many people. Those with hearing difficulties may not be able to hear a standard alarm clock, and early risers may not want to wake their spouses. The Wake & Shake Alarm Clock is a smart alternative that lets you select one of four different alarm options that can help you to rise without bothering the person next to you. Choose from combinations of adjustable sound, flashing lights, and a vibrating pad that shakes you awake at the time you set your alarm to go off. You can even connect this system to your phone to be shaken awake for an early morning call (this feature requires a dual phone jack adapter, which is sold separately).

Review: aXbo Sleep Phase Alarm Clock – wakes you at the optimal point in your sleep cycle

axbo sleep phaseFollowing up on the heels of the SleepTracker is a sleek, gorgeously designed alarm clock from European company, aXbo, that uses an accompanying wristband to track your body’s movements throughout your sleep.

Based on those movements, it can determine where you are in your sleep cycle. Research has shown that there is an optimum point in your sleep cycle to awaken to feel refreshed.

Set your aXbo Sleep Phase Alarm Clock for the latest time that you wish to awake. It will start looking for your optimal waking point 30 minutes prior to that and will sound an alarm, which include some more gentle nature sounds.

Having tried the aXbo, there is no question that it finds a better point in time to awaken. Is it extremely accurate? That’s hard to tell based only on how refreshed you feel, because how well you sleep and how energetic you feel depends on many factors outside of just your ideal wake time.

The aXbo has a unique, yet easy to use interface and the buttons have an ideal feel to them. It’s easy to get lost in the semi-transparent display as well. aXbo recharges via USB or the included adapter.

TV Alarm Clock

TV Alarm Clock

You don’t need to wake up to an annoying buzzer or obnoxious radio show. Wake up to your favorite TV show with the TV Alarm Clock, which turns on the television in your bedroom at the time you specify. This convenient clock sits on your bedside table, and its backlit 2-inch display shows the time and date. At your designated waking hour, the TV Alarm Clock sends an infrared signal to your television to turn it on like a standard remote control. Since you can set up to three times for this alarm clock to send its power signal to the TV, you can also use it to turn your television off automatically at a certain time, convenient if you tend to fall asleep while watching late-night shows.

SLEEPTRACKER: Intelligent Wristwatch Alarm Clock

SLEEPTRACKER: Intelligent Wristwatch Alarm Clock

Yep, I think this gadget is calling my name. The SLEEPTRACKER is a relatively new product from Innovative Sleep Solutions that monitors your movement during the night and will set off an alarm when it detects that you’re almost awake. The SLEEPTRACKER is actually a sporty digital wristwatch with a motion sensor built into it. Once you set the time window within which you wish to be awoken, the SLEEPTRACKER will monitor your motion and sound the alarm when you stir, the idea being that when you’re in the deep stages of sleep, you don’t really move around as much. As much as I have difficulty waking up in the morning, I probably need to try out this product. If I do, I’ll be sure to test it out fully and post a review to Gizmos for Geeks.
