Comcast XFINITY iPad TV app

Comcast XFINITY TV iPad App Released

Comcast XFINITY iPad TV app Comcast announced an upgrade to the XFINITY iPad app which was released on February 1st. This new (and free) upgrade allows Comcast consumers to watch their favorite On Demand shows and movies right on the Apple iPad. This is in addition to being able to use your iPad, iPhone and iPod touch as a remote control, to search On Demand and TV listings and to schedule your DVR even when you’re away from home.

If you have Comcast and use this app, we want to know what you think. This feels like a new killer app for the iPad similar to the Netflix iPad app.

Cloud City - China building a city for cloud computing

China building Cloud City

Cloud City - China building a city for cloud computing China is building a cloud computing and office complex that includes a mega data center primarily for cloud computing with the partnership of IBM. The complex will cover over 6M square feet with the initial data center space accounting for almost 650k square feet. That seems impressive but I thought they meant “Cloud City” not “Cloud Computing City” so I was less than impressed when I found out the complex wasn’t going to float in the clouds.

Two Yanks Decide to Help Their Canadian Neighbors by Shipping Them Downloaded Files

Canada has a some new metered Internet usage laws where any ISP using Bell Canada’s network has to cap their users at 25GB/month of downloads, after which they get charged $0.95 per additional Gigabyte. But here’s where it gets interesting – 2 Americans who run a security camera company are helping (and protesting the new law) by downloading anything for their Canadian friends, burning it to CD/DVD and shipping it via snail mail.

Oh, and did we mention they’re doing it for free? Yup, assuming the requests don’t take them under, it’s free. So if you’re Canadian and are using their service, creatively called Canadian Download, it would be nice to donate and/or patronize their main site. And of course, if you disagree with the law, register your complaint with the government.

Flash Drive with Infinite Storage??

Just splashed out on a very nice 128GB flash drive? What a waste – they’re out of date! “Infinite” is the new memory capacity you’re looking for. That’s right, you heard it here first – flash drives with infinite storage space. Read on!

Infinitec have announced their new flash drive with infinite memory. However, they are lying a bit – the flash drive isn’t really a flash drive – instead, you plug the device into your computer and connect it to your WiFi network and it will locate all the hard drive spaces available to it and utilise them as its own space, creating a sort of “cloud-based flash drive”. …

Apple iPhone Coming to Verizon – but no 4G LTE

iPhone on Verizon The years of speculation and rumors are over, Verizon finally announced that the Apple iPhone will be “coming to America’s most reliable network” at the Verizon press conference this morning. The Apple iPhone will be available on February 10th, 2011 and existing subscribers are able to pre-order on February 3rd on a “first come, first serve” basis via VerizonWireless.com. The pre-orders will only be taken online for both consumer and business. New customers have to wait for the February 10th launch to purchase in select channels.

Pricing for Verizon’s iPhone 4 is similar to AT&Ts pricing starting at $199.99 for the 16GB model and $299.99 for the 32GB model. This pricing requires a 2 year commitment to Verizon. Existing Verizon users are able to redeem their New Every Two credit but there will be no early upgrade promotions like AT&T offered last year. Minimum service requires a nationwide plan with a data package, but pricing has not been released yet.

If you just purchased a phone on Verizon within the past 30 days, you can exchange the phone with a restocking fee to “upgrade” to an iPhone 4.

AirStash Wireless Flash Drive makes File Sharing easy

AirStash Wireless Flash DriveThought you’d just about got USB flash drives all worked out? Sorry guys, they were so0o last year.

The new standard for portable media transfer will soon become wireless, with AirStash leading the way. However, this isn’t just a device to take files around on and distribute between computers, it’s so much more.

The AirStash is a mini media server and Wi-Fi access point meaning that any device with Wi-Fi capabilities can access the files on it through a Wi-Fi connection that it creates (that’s right, you don’t even need to be on a network to use it!).
