Vizit photo frame connects directly to cell network, pulls photos down from secure website

isabella vizit photo frameNetwork-connected photo frames are nothing new, but this new one called the Vizit from Isabella has some cool new features. It hooks up directly to AT&T’s cellular network, and you can ‘send’ photos to it via e-mail, SMS text messages, Flickr, and Web browser.

What it does it pulls photos down from the VizitMe.com site where you set up an account ($5.99/mo) that gets tied to the frame you have. You can allow people to send photos to your account, where they are stored by Vizit. A useful application of this model is to give a frame to your non-tech-savvy family members and you can control their frame and what photos they see. Think: great for surprising them with the latest baby pictures.

The frame itself is a 10.4″ LCD-backlit touchscreen with a 800×600 resolution, and also has USB 2.0 and SD Card slots. It also comes in a variety of colors and finishes.

As much as I love the idea of hooking it up directly via a cellular network, I’d still like to see it come with an Ethernet jack.

Camera Cube Level – use bubble levelers to get your photos straight

This no-batteries required gadget falls into the category of things that make you smile wryly and wonder why you didn’t imagine it. The Camera Cube Level is pretty simple – it’s a transparent cube with 3 bubble levelers inside. You slide the whole cube onto the top of your camera’s hot shoe and now you’re ready to take perfectly level shots, both portrait and landscape.

That’s it. If you’re a photography junkie and have a camera with a hot shoe, then go get one, it’s cheap.

Epson WorkForce 310

Epson WorkForce 310

We recently reviewed the Epson WorkForce 600 and found it to be an excellent all-in-one printer. Now Epson have released the WorkForce 310 which is essentially a cheaper, more compact and more efficient version. The WorkForce series is a range of printers that can print, scan, copy and fax. Photo printing is also catered for, as would be expected with an Epson. However, direct photo printing might be an issue with no USB connectivity and no memory card slots unlike its predecessor the WorkForce 600.

Disappointingly, the 310 has lost its 802.11g WiFi connectivity completely which was a real bonus for the 600. However, it should be noted that this is priced cheaper and has been designed as a compact option.

On the plus side, Epson claim that it can print at twice the speed of any similarly-priced and similarly-featured all-in-one printer, with a black printing speed of 36 ppm (not specified as to whether this is in draft mode or not) and a high quality print speed of 16 ppm. 2-sided is support – the Epson website displays this as ‘manual 2-sided printing’ but surely every printer ‘features’ this?!

Not a bad job for $130, and should have enough features to delight the occasional home user and power business user alike.

They also look for a camera that is both mobile and has all the great features that are in other cameras. If you are looking for an ultra-compact and ultra-slim camera then you need to look into Canon. The Canon PowerShot SD630 Digital ELPH digital camera is just the camera you might be looking for. For the first time on a Canon camera there is a 3 inch LCD screen that offers 173,000 pixels of resolution. This will allow you to clearly see your pictures after taking them. Weighing nearly 6 ounces makes this camera heavier than you might expect from a small camera but being small enough that it fits comfortably in your shirt or pants pocket. The camera is quick to start up and will take pictures quickly as well. If you put the camera in its manual mode you have the ability to change advanced settings. Some of these advance settings include white balance, exposure compensation and metering mode. There are many features that make this camera useful. Eye-Fi Explore – Automatically geo-tags your photos

We featured the Eye-Fi SD card that bundles WiFi connectivity onboard. Stick this in your digital camera and then you can automatically upload your photos to your favorite photo sharing website.

Now Eye-Fi is rolling out a new version of its product dubbed the Eye-Fi Explore that goes one step further – it automatically geo-tag your photos by using nearby WiFi access points to triangulate your position. Eye-Fi partnered with Skyhook Wireless to provide the geo-data.

We saw a geo-tagging gadget called the GPS Photo Finder back at CES, but I’ve got to say this wins out, because you don’t have to take your SD card and stick it into a different device.
