Easy iPod Media Sharer – transfer content to other iPods directly

Everyone knows the feeling of seeing your friends have thousands of songs on their iPod, while you only have a measly collection in comparison. The Easy iPod Media Sharer allows two iPods to transfer songs, videos, and files between two iPods.

Of course, any songs transferred with digital rights management (DRM), mainly songs bought through iTunes, require proper authorization. The neat thing about this gizmo is the speedy way it transfers the data. It claims transferring some songs in seconds, approximately 600KB/sec.

The Easy iPod Media Sharer is actually pocket size measuring about three inches long and 2 inches wide. Great to throw in your laptop bag, purse, or even a pocket to share songs on the go. This handy gadget is perfect for anyone who enjoys gathering a collection of songs, or who has multiple iPods and wants to keep them all up to date in a quick and easy way.

iceTech Solar-3000: Solar Charger for iPhone

iPhone Solar Charger

The iceTECH Solar-3000 is an iPhone charger than runs on solar energy. Okay, you may be thinking ‘Yeah, yeah; seen it before!’, which you most likely have, but this one actually does the job stylishly, which can’t be said for a lot of the others. Compatible with all iPhone models (and even iPods), you don’t have to worry about your handset running out of juice with this by your side; just leave it in the sun somewhere, whether that be on your dashboard in the car or even on the desk in the middle of a meeting.

The product, available in white, red or black, is an iPhone charger like no other – it is essentially a case with slots for business/credit cards (and things of similar size) with the charger plugged into the bottom. No point wasting money on a case and a solar charger when you can just have this, right?

Microsoft to produce original video content for Zunes

In what seems to be a strange move to me, Microsoft is going to produce original video content exclusively for Zune owners. The first series will be an 8-episode comedy called Cinemash starting in May. Each episode will be 3 to 5 minutes long.

Considering there are only 3 million Zunes but opver 170M iPods, why wouldn’t MS make this content available to everyone? After all, profit margins on content can be way better than on hardware, especially in a down economy. Yeah, we all know why – they want to sell more Zunes; can’t let Apple keep beating them there.

My prediction – this will fade quietly, and there will be no more MS video next year.

#CES09: Ten One Design’s Gadgets Fix Fustrations of Capactive Touch Screens

Ten One Design launched several products lately including the Pogo Stylus in September and the Pogo Sketch less than a month ago.

Ten One Design’s gadgets help consumers that are frustrated by the capacitive touch screens of the iPhone, iPod touch and MacBook due to consumers with fingernails that are a bit too long to accurately use the touch screens or due to fat-fingering.

Pogo Stylus is the world’s first iPod touch- and iPhone-Compatible Stylus while the Pogo Sketch provides drawing capability using the latest multitouch MacBook trackpad. The trackpad is actually transformed into a pen tablet for premium drawing programs and other artistic applications.

The Pogo Sketch’s tip is made of advanced material that acts as a bridge by transferring the signal from the display to the user’s hand.

Both the Pogo Stylus and Pogo Sketch are available from the Ten One Design website for starting at $14.95.

iPod nano 4G – back to tall and slim and now in 16GB size

Thank you Apple for bringing the iPod nano back in its very cool, tall, thin, original incarnation. Not only that, but for adding some bright, rad colors (9 total). Oh yes, it now comes in 8 and 16GB versions. So what else is new? For starters, it has a feature called Genius which auto-creates playlists based on what songs ‘go together’. It’s an algorithm developed by Apple. The other notable feature is the built-in accelerometer which allows you to shuffle the songs when you shake it!

The screen on this new nano is a bit larger and you can view your cover art in landscape mode (yes, automatically), as well as in Cover Flow (the moving album covers feature). And back to the accelerometer: this means that you can now play games based on tilting and rotation. To that ends, one of the built-in games is Maze; I’ll let you guess what that’s about.

Apple is also touting this as the ‘greenest’ nano as they’ve stripped most of the hazardous chemicals and plastics out of it. Kudos on that move Apple.

NetLinc – Control your INSTEON devices from the Web, Phone or PDA

This is exactly the type of product that you may have once seen at an EPCOT exhibit or a future-looking tech documentary, but the difference is this is real. NetLinc is an INSTEON Central Controller that allows you to schedule and control your INSTEON home automation network from the Internet, via a browser on a PC, your Web-accessible smartphone or PDA.

The main NetLinc controller simply plugs into your existing INSTEON network, and from there, you can configure it with your computer network to grant you control from outside your home via your broadband Internet connection. NetLinc even support IP-based cameras so you can view those cameras in real-time from wherever.

This is super-cool application for your iPhone or iPod Touch. If you want to see NetLinc in action, take a look at this video.

Remember when those (horrible) white earphones were the in-thing? Well no more. Now, Sony is giving its Walkman line of Video MP3 players some wireless love with Bluetooth built-in as well as throwing in a pair of BT headphones to go with them.

Available in either an 8GB or a 16GB size, these Flash-memory based players can store thousands of MP3 tunes or hours of video for playback on its 2.4″ LCD screen. Battery life on these guys is up to 36 hrs for audio and 9 for video.

In the audio department, you can also expect WMA and AAC audio support along with the usual MP3 support, not to mention some DRM support.
