D-Link’s Boxee Box goes on sale today

Boxee BoxBoxee announced the hardware version of their product what seems like ages ago at CES in January and it is finally shipping in time for the holidays.  The Boxee Box ($200) which is made by D-Link launched today and it will soon include both Netflix and Hulu Plus.

It’ll also support HTML 4 and 1080p video and will also support apps like Vevo, VBS.TV and naturally Facebook and Twitter.

Other competitors in this space include Google TV which already has the Logitech Revue box out, Apple which is revamping its Apple TV, and Roku which has a few different models.

Samsung Galaxy Tab available for pre-order to Sprint Premier Members

Sprint just offered its Premier Members the ability to pre-order the brand new Samsung Galaxy Tab tablet running Android 2.2 (Froyo). It’s $400 and requires a 2-year agreement and of course a data plan (starts at about $30/mo).

They’ll ship it you as soon as it’s available.

New Web Browser, RockMelt, is all about social networking

RockMeltThere’s always a new kid lurking around the corner in every industry, and while the Web browser world hasn’t seen one since Chrome, RockMelt is hoping to change that with their socially-minded browser.

They’re hoping to capitalize on how popular sites like Facebook, Twitter, et al. have become as well as how Web activity has evolved to be more share-oriented.

Amazon buying Diapers.com et al

Amazon.com is buying out one of its fiercest competitors, Diapers.com, after going through some serious price wars.

They’re actually buying the holding company, so that means they get Soap.com as well, which is a new property launched just a few months ago.

Price tag for this little purchase: $540 million. Price tag for parents: still unknown, but expect super cheap diapers to be a thing of the past, unless someone else comes along to reinvent diapers.com.
