Cringely moving on from PBS

For 11 years, Robert X. Cringely wrote his opinionated/futurist tech column, I, Cringely, on pbs.org. He has now decided to move on after having written some decidedly insightful pieces.

In case you don’t know, Cringely has been in the ‘biz’ for 30 years, the computer/IT/Web/TV business that is. He has written books, starred in/written/developed documentaries and of course, written his weekly column for PBS. One of those documentaries is “Triumph of the Nerds” – I highly recommend this.

YouTube is now 25% of all Google searches

Wow. If YouTube were a standalone search engine, it would be #2 behind Google. Of course, it’s not, Google being smart enough to snap it up. comScore is a tracking service that just released these numbers – over 2.7 billion searches in the US in Nov.

Both Microsoft and Yahoo were incrementally down from Oct.

Sling.com Launches – Consolidated video content from over 90 sources

Sling Media has launched its very own content site, Sling.com. Sling.com is essentially an aggregator that you can use via its website, and/or with the added benefit that you can ‘sling’ this content around the Net to your own TV via a Slingbox.

You may sign up for an account (or just use your pre-existing Sling account) and then customize your sling.com experience with subscriptions, favorites, quicklists, RSS and more.

Truphone launches iPod Touch version of their app
