Moshi Voice-Controlled Digital Alarm Clock

You already know how we love our alarm clocks here on GfG! Well we love the sound of this one, or more precisely, it loves the sound of us. You see, the Moshi alarm clock is voice-controlled. Start off by saying “Hello Moshi” and it will ask you for the command to perform.

Features include the typical alarm clock, but some other niceties like the current temperature, the date, sleep sounds and a night light. Moshi has a nice large, bright display and is elegantly styled.

Wind Chime Alarm Clock

Wind Chime Alarm Clock

The alarm clock is the best, and the worst, (depending on how much you like hate work) invention ever, but we manage to bring you the coolest, weirdest and wackiest out there. Today’s is no exception – the wind chime alarm clock will wake you up in a very calm manner, unlike the horrible sound some other clocks make.

At your desired, preset time you will be awoken with the zen-like sound of wind whistling through a set of chimes (hit the buy link for a video). If you’re worried about this not being enough to wake you then there is the option of setting it to beep like every other alarm clock on the planet – but surely this defeats the objective?

ReQall – Give Yourself A Brain Extension

ReQall Memory Aid

ReQall is a very nice piece of to-do software; it allows you to make a to-do with reminders via a wide range of media. When setting yourself a to-do note, you can call their toll free number and dictate the note (using voice recognition software), text the note, instant message (IM) the note, send via a Firefox extension and by applications available for many phones (including of course iPhones and Blackerrys).

There is integration with Google Calendar & Outlook, sharing of items with other people, and the premium version even has location-aware reminders (ex: you go to the supermarket and want to be reminded to buy milk).

The basic version is free and the Pro version is $2.99/month or $24.99 a year – a real bargain for what you get.

Mensa Puzzle Alarm Clock

More alarm clock obsession. This one is for geniuses, or would-be smarty pants. It’s the Mensa Puzzle alarm clock. In order to shut it off, you have memorize a sequence of lights and then punch them back in to the clock. Nice.

Don’t get it wrong, or the alarm gets louder. Definitely a good way to get your brain quickly active in the AM. I think I’d throw mine against a wall.

The Tantrum Throwing Alarm Clock

Woot! Another alarm clock to add to our collection. This one appeals to the kid in us all. When the ‘alarm’ goes off, this clock pounds its fists and opens its mouth to wake your sleeping *#$ up right away.

It starts off timidly, but if you don’t get to the snooze button quickly enough, then the ‘tantrum’ gets into full swing. Love it.

Anti-sleep driving alarm

In keeping with our love of all types of alarms (clocks mainly), here’s one to help keep you awake when you’re behind the wheel, manning an important station, studying, or perhaps in the middle of that very important gaming session! It’s a gadget that goes behind your ear and can tell when your head tilts forward more than 30 degrees at which point it will emit a high-pitched alarm that will surely bring you out of your slumber.

This is the type of thing that should almost be mandated for truckers, couriers or others who are on the road a lot, and it’s very reasonably priced after all.

Voice Controlled Alarm Clock understands 10 spoken commands

Ok, we admit it – we have an obsession with alarm clocks. What we’d really like to see is a build-your-own-alarm-clock store. Honestly, if that existed, I’d easily spend $200-$300 on my dream alarm clock. What? 😉

Anyway, here’s a nice clean looking alarm clock that understands 10 spoken voice commands including the ability to set the time, the alarm, and of course SNOOZE! This blue-backlit clock also has a temperature sensor and can tell you if you’re at your perfect sleeping temp.

Plug it into the wall or put in 3 AAA batteries.

Clocky – With a Chrome Finish

Clocky Chrome

This is great for those sleepers who hit the alarm clock over and over again. You know what I am talking, the people that are running around throwing their clothes on trying to get to work on time because they have over slept. They didn’t have time to really brush their hair or their clothes looked like they have been through the wringer a few times too many. You have seen one, you have been one, or you still are one. These are the people that need to have this creative invention.

Chasing your alarm clock around will definitely get your blood flowing early in the morning. No more worry about over-sleeping and not making it your meeting on time. This little guy will not turn off until you find it. You can not just lay there and hope that it will turn off on its own like some other alarm clocks.

In our previous article on this little gadget, we talked about where this thing originated. This other article on this invention shows an older look of the Clocky, but it now has a nice pretty and stylish chrome finish to it.

Review: aXbo Sleep Phase Alarm Clock – wakes you at the optimal point in your sleep cycle

axbo sleep phaseFollowing up on the heels of the SleepTracker is a sleek, gorgeously designed alarm clock from European company, aXbo, that uses an accompanying wristband to track your body’s movements throughout your sleep.

Based on those movements, it can determine where you are in your sleep cycle. Research has shown that there is an optimum point in your sleep cycle to awaken to feel refreshed.

Set your aXbo Sleep Phase Alarm Clock for the latest time that you wish to awake. It will start looking for your optimal waking point 30 minutes prior to that and will sound an alarm, which include some more gentle nature sounds.

Having tried the aXbo, there is no question that it finds a better point in time to awaken. Is it extremely accurate? That’s hard to tell based only on how refreshed you feel, because how well you sleep and how energetic you feel depends on many factors outside of just your ideal wake time.

The aXbo has a unique, yet easy to use interface and the buttons have an ideal feel to them. It’s easy to get lost in the semi-transparent display as well. aXbo recharges via USB or the included adapter.
