Clock That Adjusts For Daylight Saving – By Tipping It

Simply tip the clock over to activate daylight saving

Today’s Gizmo of the Day is probably more notable for its artsy look than it’s gadgetiness, but it is cool – a clock that adjusts for daylight saving time simply by being tipped. Everything I have, except my watch, adjusts automatically for daylight savings time so perhaps a little unnecessary for me, but it does make a great talking point and looks pretty cool as well. Designed by NAVA who haven’t as yet released any details on price or availability – watch this space!

All you have to do now is remember to tip it…

Aerolatte To Go – Milk Frother

Aerolatte To Go - Black

Aerolatte’s cappuccino/latte/milkshake/you-name-it milk frothers have been around for years, but here’s a new twist – the Aerolatte To Go. Essentially still their original design, this new version comes in a suave matte black with a sophisticated travel case for the modern man on the go and won’t look out of place sitting in your BMW’s glove compartment. Well… your call.

With the new paint job, it still does the same thing beautifully – it really can make a lovely frothy milk in under 20 seconds, running on 2 AA batteries. No more violent hand pressing on your part. Get that froth for your latte or cappuccino.

VHS2DVD Wizard – Converts VHS to DVD

VHS2DVD Wizard

VHS2DVD Wizard is another competitor in the VHS to DVD conversion market. It presents a simple and tidy way to transfer your VHS video tapes to DVDs. Sure it might not have the same features as some of the other competitors (round up) but it does it cheaper and perhaps with less hassle.

Plug in the 2 video cables to connect your PC via USB to your VHS player, install the software and simply hit play on your VCR. The software will capture it as it is playing and allow you to edit unwanted sections out at the end (such as ads) before finally burning it to DVD, or simply saving it on your computer for future viewings. The price ($50) is very similar to that of Honestech’s VHS to DVD Deluxe (which we’ve tested and reviewed in depth), but keep in mind that the Honestech product doesn’t care whether its VCR or any other analog source (audio and/or video) as long as it has RCA output jacks.

Sennheiser’s Totally Wireless Earphones

Sennheiser MX W1 Earphones

Sennheiser have broken into the ultra premium headphone market by offering their Sennheiser MX W1 Earphones, which are completely wireless and compatible with any device with a 3.5mm jack. The included transmitter plugs into the jack to transmit your music (or book, as Amazon say these get bought alot with Kindles) into your headphones wirelessly. The earphones consist of a unique ‘twist’ system to make sure they stay in your ears whilst on the go – you wouldn’t want to lose a pair of $400 headphones, would you?

The earphones are rechargeable, presumably by some sort of dock, and the innovative carry-case they come with allows you to have up to 3 full charges whilst you’re on the go, so you need never be without your music. Finally, for those of you really into your earphones, they feature neodymium magnets for the best sound around.

USB Wireless Computer Control

USB Compute Remote Control

This nifty innovation takes the TV remote to the next level by turning it into a computer remote. All you need to do is plug the USB receiver into your computer and away you go. The remote features buttons for all the major computer functions, such as page up/down, tab, mouse, typing controls (in a mobile phone keyboard layout) and even a mouse to help you hunt around your screen.

There are also a number of hotkeys on the top of the remote that can be programmed to start the application of your choice. Unfortunately style was not one of the inventor’s strong points!

Split Stick – 2 Flash Drives In One

USB Split Stick

Some ‘crazy’ people over at quirky.com have designed a flash drive they named the Split Stick. This is a 2GB, double-ended flash drive that allows you to switch between 2 different memory units by sliding a button along, separating your work from leisure or whatever else it may be that you choose to keep separate.

The units are available in a variety of colors and can be etched with a symbol on each side of the stick to help remember which section is which – you don’t want to be opening up your holiday snaps at work! The price is also very attractive for such a unique product at $24.99 but it is still in the development stage.

This product just leaves me with one question – wouldn’t it have been a lot easier and cost effective to simply partition a 4GB drive?

Microsoft ‘Arc’ Mouse – Folding Portable Mouse

Arc Portable Mouse

Microsoft have announced their latest addition to the portable mouse market – the Arc™ Mouse; a mouse which can fold away to 60% of its size to be carried and can be unfolded to make a comfortable pointing device for your laptop. The mouse utilizes laser technology for extra precision over optical, broadcasts over 2.4Ghz, allowing it to control your laptop from 30ft. away (should you ever need to have your mouse so far away from your laptop!) and features 4 customizable buttons with another button for switching between windows.

Originally designed with the ever-increasing notebook market in mind, the Arc Mouse would make a great addition to any computer or game console where space is an issue, but style is demanded – it comes in black or red to suit your personality.

Latest Apple Rumour – iTablet?

iTablet Rumour

Rumours from Apple are common, but a few of them do seem to come true – perhaps this is one of them! I am a bit skeptical about Apple releasing the ‘iCar’ that I heard about last year though! However, the latest offering in the rumor scene is some sort of Apple Tablet (could it be called the iTablet?) to compete within the ultra-portable computing market to provide something a little bigger and more powerful than an iPhone, yet not as big as their MacBooks.

There have been reports of the tablet featuring a 9.7inch screen and costing around $800. With the netbook and tablet market growing at such a fast rate at the moment I personally think that this device will be made, as Apple will want a piece of this market. As for the picture, I hope this is just a satirical piece of Photoshopping.
