Apple Mac App Store account verification not working

Apple released the Mac App Store earlier today allowing Mac users with Mac OSX 10.6.6 to browse and purchased Mac Apps much like iOS devices use the iTunes App Store.

While playing around with the Mac App Store, I discovered a work-around to having to validate your account with a second factor. To login to the Mac App Store, you need to first use your iTunes or Apple ID and password. For additional account verification, users must then enter verification of the credit card on file.

This is where Apple’s account verification is broken and you can login for the first time without without having to complete the credit card information for verification.

Read on to view a walk-through showing how account verification is broken.

1) Click “Sign In” from the far right Quick Links box:

2) You are presented with a dropdown window asking for your Apple ID:

3) Next you are prompted to click OK acknowledging that “Verification is required” before you make purchases you must click OK and then verify your payment information:

4) You are then sent to the Edit Payment Information window where you receive the following box stating “Your account has been accessed from a new computer or device, and you must verify your payment information before you can make purchases”:

5) Rather than edit your payment information click any of the following top quick links (Featured, Top Charts, Categories, Purchases or Updates) and you are automatically logged in AND able to purchase Mac Apps:
