Scales have come a long way from just seeing how fat… uh… how much you weigh. Tanita is one of the leaders in the field, and they have an impressive array of scales that measure things like body fat %, body water %, muscle mass, bone mass, and they even have something called a physique rating. I’ve had a Tanita scale for a number of years, but back then, they only measured body fat % and did a calculation based on whether you said you were athletic or not. Being a (recreational) soccer player, this news item naturally caught my eye: adidas recently announced a new concept in soccer boots: a modular boot. The new +F50 TUNIT, as the model is called, consists of 3 interchangeable components: the upper, the chassis and the studs. Of course, each part comes in different styles and functions to suit different weather and pitch conditions. Now you can decide how your boot will look and work. Already, adidas has lined up quite a number of star players to wear the new shoes at the 2006 World Cup in Germany this summer. I’d love to get my feet into a pair of these, but I can already imagine the price tag attached to these puppies.

Ok, so it’s not the flashiest, coolest, most expensive gadget out there, but it’s very practical! You can use this inexpensive, relatively simple device to rid your shoes of odors through the use of ionization.
