The Latest on GottaHave – The Geeks’ PriceGrabber Blog

If you haven’t been reading GottaHave, PriceGrabber’s Gadget blog, penned by your very own Geeks (us of course!), then you’re missing out on some cool articles. For example, did you know that Rock Band rocks? (PS> it does.) Digital Readers may be here to stay; desk lighting can be cool; SanDisk is making USB hubs cool-looking and better still, TV hookable; Creative put out a 32GB Flash memory multimedia player; and you can get a UMPC today.Check out the site and stay tuned by subscribing to the RSS feed.

Oh yes, one more plug – if you’re ever shopping and need some Price Comparisons, then do use the Gizmos for Geeks’ Price Comparison site (in conjunction with PriceGrabber). You can always find the link “Compare Prices” in the top navigation bar (just look a little further north on the page).

Gizmos for Babies and Kids Return

Chief Gizmateer and Bri The Geeks are excited to announce that after a couple month hiatus both Gizmos for Babies and Gizmos for Kids will be returning with new content for geek parents starting this week! The Geeks started both blogs to cover the various gizmos and really cool toys we really want to play with even as adults. Chief Gizmateer’s wife, the editor-in-chief of both blogs, and Chief Gizmateer recently traveled to China to adopt the cutest little girl with a big personality. As first time parents, we all of a sudden had an instant one year toddler with an unending energy source!

Points North Cover During our hiatus both blogs were picked up by Points North Magazine during October in a section called “All Points Bulletin”. Gizmos for Geeks was mentioned as well. We love the press!

Introducing the Gizmos for Geeks Store!

We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve just stood up our brand new storefront which you can find either by navigating to http://store.gizmosforgeeks.com or by clicking the link “Shop for Gadgets” in the navigation bar under the GfG logo on any Gizmos for Geeks page.

This store is built in partnership with Amazon.com, and you can find anything on here that you can find on Amazon.com’s site, but the beauty of it is that it’s not cluttered the way that Amazon’s site can be, and it’s probably faster to pull up a given page than via Amazon. Of course, Amazon doesn’t mind as you still end up buying it from or through them. It’s a win-win-win for everyone.

So get shopping and do tell all of your friends about Store.GizmosForGeeks.com!

Grrls for Geeks Launched

Grrls for Geeks Earlier this week “the Geeks” launched our latest value-add website for Geeks around the web called Grrls For Geeks! The site compiles pictures and photos of cute Geek Grrls (Girls for non-Geeks) for your viewing and rating pleasure in a modern and geek pinup daily calendar sort of way.

Start each day by checking out the Grrl of the Day followed by the Gizmo of the Day!

Gizmos for Geeks 2.0 – Our New Site

Welcome to our newly redesigned site! Not only have we re-styled things, but more importantly, we’ve moved web content platforms from Xaraya to WordPress. You may be wondering why. As much as we love Xaraya – it’s really a geek’s dream CMS (Content Management System) – there were a few factors that pushed us to switch, such as the sheer number of people using WordPress, the number of plugins, and the volume of support available for it. Xaraya unfortunately has a small team working on it, with updates and releases coming too few and far between. We will continue to run some other sites using Xaraya as it is well-suited for many things, but our flagship site, Gizmos for Geeks, had to make the move.
