Lockheed Martin makes self-contained PC on a USB Thumb Drive
In what seems like a strange jump for a defense contractor, Lockheed Martin just introduced IronClad, a complete PC on a USB flash drive. IronClad contains all of the operating system, applications and user data in the 8GB stick made in conjunction with storage vendor, IronKey.
The entire stick is encrypted with 256-bit encryption and there’s anti-virus protection for when you plug into unknown computers to run your ‘stick laptop’. The technology to run the OS from the stick was developed by LM.
Makes it sooo much easier to lose your ‘laptop’ now doesn’t it?!
Although the specs for USB 3.0 were nailed down in late 2008, production of devices that support or run USB 3.0 have really only now started showing up. Here’s a bit of insight as to what you can expect in the next 2 years.

How many different things can you combine into 1 device and then of course make it USB-connected and -powered? Obviously the answer is infinite! Here’s another – an alarm clock, with a speaker and a calendar all modeled to look an old-fashioned radio announcer’s microphone (like the one Larry King has as a prop).
Yes, you read that title right – it’s a USB-powered soldering iron! Nice! And somehwat appropriate when you think about it – chances are if you’re the soldering iron type, then you’re probably in your den or your basement or your bedroom and you’re very close to a computer. 
This is cute. It’s a USB card reader that is shaped like and labeled as the “Ctrl” and “Enter” keys. It’s a totally functional card reader that supports SD, micro SDHC, MicroSD, Sony M2, Memory Stick, and MS duo cards as well as MicroSD/T-Flash/Micro SDHC and Sony M2 cards. It is USB 2.0 compatible and is about the size of a small USB thumb drive.
No idea if this specific product works, but the idea has been around for a long time in the form of other similar products that use certain frequencies to repel insects and other bugs. The twist with this one is that it is in the form of a USB stick. It is specifically meant to repel mosquitoes.
