Spy Camera/Video Watch

Spy cameras have been around for quite some time, but now spy cameras that were once futuristic items in action flicks are now commonly available items. Take this wrist watch fro example. Classy looking watch that includes a video camera, that takes AVI videos and has 8GB of storage!

Not too shabby either at 15FPS and a resolution of 352×288 and a built-in microphone. You can’t even see the camera lens in this photo. The price is also surprising – $100.

Sony Webbie HD Camera

A fun camcorder/camera for fun times. Sony’s Webbie HD weighs in at 7 ounces and is pocket-sized allowing you to record all your crazy life moments.

The camcorder records 8.5 hours of HD MP4 video which plays nicely with YouTube. The Webbie can also take and store thousands of photos using a built-in 5MP camera. Of course the number of photos and length of video depend on the size of the memory stick. So, since this is a Sony product, what memory stick do you think the Webbie uses? I hope you guessed a Memory Stick PRO Duo… 8.5 hours of video or thousands of photos are based on 16GB memory card.

So record your next adventure with impeccable detail as the Webbie can film in high-def (1440×1080/30p, 1280×720/30p) or standard definition (640×480/30p)… all for under $200! That’s right, the Sony Webbie is listed at $199.

#CES09: FLIR introduces Pedestrian Detection into auto Night Vision product

FLIR Systems showed off the latest version of their thermal imaging system for automobiles that now includes Pedestrian Detection.

First off all, the thermal imaging camera displays a clearer image at night than a human’s native vision can provide. Known as Night Vision and currently available in a select few BMW models, the image is shown in the vehicle’s in-dash monitor (which also duals as the info center).

The new addition to the system is Pedestrian Detection which if detects a heat source in the shape of a human, alerts the driver. Cool. Definitely something that needs to get embedded in all vehicles. Currently, the pricing is a bit too much ($2600 luxury add-on for some BMWs).

FLIR is working with another German vendor as well as a Japanese automaker for 2010 releases.

Eye-Fi Explore – Automatically geo-tags your photos

We featured the Eye-Fi SD card that bundles WiFi connectivity onboard. Stick this in your digital camera and then you can automatically upload your photos to your favorite photo sharing website.

Now Eye-Fi is rolling out a new version of its product dubbed the Eye-Fi Explore that goes one step further – it automatically geo-tag your photos by using nearby WiFi access points to triangulate your position. Eye-Fi partnered with Skyhook Wireless to provide the geo-data.

We saw a geo-tagging gadget called the GPS Photo Finder back at CES, but I’ve got to say this wins out, because you don’t have to take your SD card and stick it into a different device.
