Google, specifically the Google Apps division, recently released a video highlighting the security protections they use in their data centers to protect both the facilities themselves and the data stored on their servers.
The 7 minute video shows off their restrictive entry policies complete with biometric scanners, 24-hour manned security monitoring, a glimpse at their server racks, and even how they destroy and recycle old hard drives. Definitely worth watching.
This is a great demonstration of the lengths Google goes to in order to protect its customer data, and shows the company loosening its secretive nature, at least enough to prove that it’s not just full of hot air.
