UVSunSense Wristbands – tells you when to reapply sunscreen

UVSunSense Wristband

Skin Cancer is becoming a bigger problem – but here’s a little gizmo to help you reduce your risk. Presenting the UVSunSense Wristband. While there are other devices that warn you of excessive exposure to UV radiation, this one will actually tell you when you need to apply more sunscreen. Think of it as a cheaper, and perhaps cooler version of the Portable UV Monitor.

When you’re applying your sun screen, simply take a moment to apply a little to your wristband as well, over the words, and when they change color you know you need to reapply. For a simple (and perhaps eventually live-saving) gadget, a mere $6 will buy you 7 wristbands – enough for a good long stay on the beach!

Now we just need to design one with an alarm in it so that it can wake you up need to reapply when you’ve dozed off.

FINIS Aqua Pulse – Swimmer’s Heart Rate Monitor

FINIS Aqua Pulse

With the world swaying more and more towards one where people like to stay in shape, more products are appearing to help you out. Here’s where FINIS have found their niche – they’ve developed a heart-rate monitor to measure your body’s exertion and exercise intensity while swimming. They claim that other products aren’t quite up to the job when it comes to swimming as they keep falling off.

Aqua Pulse works by picking up your heart rate from your earlobe (slightly unusual – have to try that one out sometime) and then tells you the results by sending sound waves through the bones in your ear, as you wouldn’t be able to hear it through a normal speaker. It appears they’ve thought of just everything with this. Hit the read link for a full description and feature list.

GfG’s Article Recap for Week Ending May 15, 2009

This past week we took a look at the very beautiful (although perhaps not awfully practical) glass foosball table from Teckell. We reviewed a powerful nutrition scale to help you keep an eye on what you eat.

Virgin Galatic is looking to offer uber short long haul flights and we reported on the new bill that may overturn the current online gambling ban in the US.

Google is always tweaking and improving their products and they’ve added tasks to G Calendar..

In the media center category, we featured the latest Netgear networked multimedia device – the Entertainer Elite, but in even bigger news, it looks like MvixUSA is about to roll out their much-awaited next-gen Media Center Player, successor to the MX-780HD.

A little coupon love to finish things off – $25 off SmartHome!

Teckell Glass Foosball Table

Teckell Glass Foosball Table

Recently we’ve found ways to bring retro products in to the modern world and this glass Foosball table by Teckell is no exception; it takes all the ‘traditional’ aspects of gameplay, and mixes it with extreme styling more fitting for today’s world.

The table is made out of glass walls and pitch, and has little wooden pegs for the players, with a basic white net at each side. Unknown is how well this stands up to the abuse I’ve seen doled out to foosball tables. I’ve been party to warping a few rods and breaking a few of those little soccer players!

HAVA Titanium HD WiFi

HAVA Titanium HD

Okay, Okay, I know we seem to love HAVA here, but we thought we’d let you know about the HAVA Titanium we mentioned in a pervious post. The HAVA Titanium HD WiFi (to use its proper name) allows you to stream HD video to your TV via a super-fast 802.11n connection.

The device basically works by streaming HD video through over your WiFi system to the dongles plugged into all your receivers (TVs and what have you). If you so wish, you can back away the box and take it with you on your travels (potential SlingBox killer?) – wherever there’s an internet connection you can watch your TV shows from home via a wide range of media, including mobile phones, and can stream simultaneously to multiple receivers, as with most of these cool HAVA items.
