RedEye iPhone Remote ControlHere’s another product to turn your iPhone into a Universal Remote, the RedEye. RedEye’s device hooks up to the devices you want to control (like your TV, cable box, DVR, etc.), and the RedEye iPhone app (free download) controls them over your WiFi network.

As long as you have WiFi signal, you can control other RedEye-connected devices in other rooms in your house. Think about it – you forgot to turn off the TV. No need to go back to the living room – a few swipes and you’re done.

Google and Universal to partner on music video website

The Universal Music Group and Google are getting together to start a music video website, called Vevo.

Reports are that they’ll share ad revenues, which implies that they will be monetizing the service via advertising and not charging viewers to watch the videos. However, it’s not clear yet. Chances are that’s how it will roll out, b/c by now, most of these companies understand that there are few things that Web surfers are willing to pong up for.

Universal is the largest of the top 4 record companies and of course, Google owns YouTube and Vevo is but another spin-off of YouTube.

#CES09: New Harmony Universal Remote from Logitech

Woot! There will be a brand new Harmony 1100 universal remote control in February. This one boasts a completely revamped software platform, new personalization features and of course, access to the ever expanding database of devices that can be controlled.

As before, this sports palm-sized 3.5″ touchscreen, wireless RF control (using an extender), customizable icons and controls, charging station and Windows/Mac support.

It will list for $500.
