Watch TV on the go with Flo TV Personal Television

flo tv personal televisionQualcomm is now pushing FLO TV somewhat independently of Verizon of AT&T by offering the FLO TV Personal Television, a handheld 3.5″ QVGA gadget that you can watch live TV on.

You can also get FLO TV on select phones as well as in your car. The monthly rate is $14.99 and you get over 15 channels.

It’ll be interesting to see whether this takes off, given the limited # of channels and monthly fee. I’d much rather have a placeshifter like a Slingbox.

HAVA Titanium HD WiFi

HAVA Titanium HD

Okay, Okay, I know we seem to love HAVA here, but we thought we’d let you know about the HAVA Titanium we mentioned in a pervious post. The HAVA Titanium HD WiFi (to use its proper name) allows you to stream HD video to your TV via a super-fast 802.11n connection.

The device basically works by streaming HD video through over your WiFi system to the dongles plugged into all your receivers (TVs and what have you). If you so wish, you can back away the box and take it with you on your travels (potential SlingBox killer?) – wherever there’s an internet connection you can watch your TV shows from home via a wide range of media, including mobile phones, and can stream simultaneously to multiple receivers, as with most of these cool HAVA items.

#CES09: Dish 922 HD DVR with SlingBox embedded

Excellent – this is what we want to see – more convergence of media devices. Following the purchase of Sling Media by EchoStar, the 2 have worked together to come up with a Dish Networks receiver that essentially embeds a Slingbox. They’re calling it a SlingLoaded player, but the bottom line is that you now get place-shifting built into your DVR and Satellite TV receiver. Nice.

The 922 is a sleek looking box with a 1 TB drive for up to 1000 hours of storage (in SD), can support 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 480i, and 480p formats, and has a new touchpad remote control that has half as many buttons as a standard remote control, and that can function as a universal remote. Of course, it includes all of the SlingBox features and be controlled via the Web using SlingGuide.

SlingPlayer Mobile for Blackberry – public beta starts today

Sling Media is rolling out a SlingPlayer Mobile for the following Blackberry models: BlackBerry Bold, BlackBerry Curve 8900, BlackBerry 8820, BlackBerry Curve 8320, BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220, BlackBerry Pearl 8120.

It’ll probably run on Blackberrys running on EDGE, but it’ll probably suck b/c EDGE networks are just too slow.

Head to the beta site for more info and downloads.

Hava Platinum HD – TV Place-shifting

If you’re looking to access all of that TV and video content you have ‘trapped’ at home, and you were thinking Slingbox, think again, because they’re not the only game in town. Enter Hava. The Hava Platinum HD arguably has more features than the Slingbox Pro. Connect any of your HiDef video sources to the Hava and then access it over your home network on your computers, or over the Internet, plus compatibility with Windows Media Center to let you create a virtual TV tuner.

Hava Platinum functions as a DVR so you can pause, rewind and fast-forward in DVD quality using MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 format. You can connect it via the Ethernet (802.3) 10/100 NIC to your network, and can even view it on your mobile phone. The PC client even allows you to burn your TV shows to DVD.

If you’re interested in wireless access, Hava also has a version with wireless connectivity, the Titanium HD WiFi.

Gimme!
