GfG’s Article Recap for Week Ending June 19, 2009

Have Zune begun to copy Apple’s stylish music players with the upcoming Zune HD? We’ve got your weekly fill of format wars – this time focused on home automation and could we really be that much closer to wearable remote controls?

Father’s days coming up and, being such a caring bunch, we came up with a a really great idea! Another idea may be to get him an analog to digital converter so that he can preserve those old video and music sitting in the attic.

Are you aniPhone/iPod Touch user and also a networking maniac? Take a look at Zensify.

The week was capped off by the ever-so-geeky Mac vs. PC poster and a look at the current progress of holographic optics – manufacturer SBG has a very cool prototype of a full-color, heads-up wearable display.

PCs vs Macs – is the ‘war’ back on? So says this poster

Artist Reece Ward has re-imagined the ‘war’ between Macs and PCs as a poster promoting a prizefight. Can’t say I agree. Macs have more in common with PCs than they ever did, and we’re practically at the point where PC really does stand for Personal Computer, what with most Macs, Win32 and Linux boxes running on PC architecture, in particular Intel-compatible x86 chips.

Either way, it’s a nice piece of popart. You can buy either a poster or a T-shirt with the image on it.

GfG’s Article Recap for Week Ending May 29, 2009

This week saw us yearning after some ‘appliance 2.0’ technology including ‘connected’ washers/dryers and a freezer failure sensor kit.

We reviewed a poster printing service which we thought was pretty good.

The Easy iPod Media Sharer‘s name says it all – useful family gadget. We do love our Gmail; their new lab is cool – an Inbox Preview feature.

We feel that President Obama is taking the right approach in creating a Cyber Czar position.
