AT&T to Start Selling Business iPads Directly

While Verizon will start to sell iPads directly to consumers shortly, AT&T Inc. said today they will start selling the Apple iPad direct to businesses through the corporate customer unit.

All three iPad WiFi and 3G models will be directly for sale to business customers as well as postpaid mobile broadband price plans for the iPad through business account representatives beginning October 28th. This new offer is available for customers whose AT&T wireless bills are paid for by their employer.

This announcement shows that Apple is increasing the number of places to sell the incredibly popular iPad including even Walmart.

Apple tried to buy Palm

It turns out that even Apple and Google tried to buy Palm, despite the wails and moans about the bleak outlook of the company, even with its new webOS and phones.

I still think this was a good buy for HP. They’ll be able to take and use webOS in more ways than the other possible suitors. Google probably would not have used webOS (they have Android), or at most sucked in the best parts to Android. They also probably don’t want to be in the phone hardware business.

As for Apple, the ‘patent theory’ seems right, especially with NTP now going after the rest of the big phone makers, after taking a nice bite out of RIM.

I’m sure too that HP was looking for a upgrade of sorts for their iPAQs (remember those?). But as with all such things, time will tell if this works out for HP.

Read This Before You Buy an iPhone 4

iPhone 4By Andrew Eisner, Retrevo.com‘s Director of Community and Content

Whether you have an iPhone or some other phone, now is a great time to move up to a new smartphone like the new Apple iPhone 4, new Android based smartphone like the HTC EVO 4G or HTC Incredible, or even a new BlackBerry, Samsung, LG, or Motorola smartphone. However, before we get into our iPhone 4 vs. Android and others evaluation, we can probably save you some time by offering this recommendation: if you have an AT&T phone then an iPhone 4 is the obvious choice especially if you already have an unlimited data plan. Otherwise, the HTC EVO 4G on Sprint or the HTC Incredible on Verizon is a very tempting alternative to the new Apple iPhone 4. Here’s our analysis based on what we feel are the most important considerations.

Apple’s iOS 4 ready for download

Apple iOS 4 Released Apple released iOS 4 today available for download through iTunes 9.2. Some of the 100 features include multitasking, folders, better unified email, new iBooks app, playlist creation from your iPhone, 5x digital zoom, tap to focus video, faces and places in Photos, home screen wallpaper, Gift apps (to send apps to family and friends as a gift), spell checking and wireless keyboard support.

There are some serious reasons to upgrade, but are you going to move away from your jailbroken iPhone? Oh, you want to jailbreak your iPhone?

Apple Releases new Mac mini

Mac Mini Yesterday Apple announced a completely redesigned Mac mini which features up to 2x the graphics performance using the NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics processor, a new HDMI port, new SD card slot and industry-leading energy efficiency in a unibody aluminum enclosure. The new Mac mini is priced at $699 and comes in two options including preinstalled with Mac OS X and iLife or with Apple’s server software – Mac OS X Snow Leopard Server.

What do the Geeks think? Basically the upgrade to the Mac mini is a miss. Apple has implemented an HDMI port and created a very energy efficient device perfect for the family room or living room using the TV as a display but neglected to include a Blu-ray drive opting instead for Apple’s standard Superdrive as Steve Jobs apparently still thinks Blu-Ray is a “bag of hurt”. Apple has skin in the HD movie and TV options with iTunes and apparently will continue to count on the digital media option rather than Blu-Ray. At least Jobs allowed HDMI on the Mac mini even with it’s “limited” resolution.
