USB Handheld Vacuum Cleaner

One of our readers sent us a list of 20 geeky vacuum cleaners and my, what a list! Everything you could possible think of is here from the vac that sounds like Chewbacca coming in at number 20 to the retro, handheld, USB powered one at number 1.

There’s even a very nice Halo-style cleaner and a few, very odd, vacuums for cleaning various body parts and then, worringly, for dealing with human waste! My personal favorite is the Dyson Airblade  – not really a vac, but it will seriously dry your hands amazingly quick. For those of you who haven’t tried it, it’s something to do before you die!

Apple announces new MacBook laptops at WWDC Conf

Apple announced some new models to their laptop line today at their WWDC conference (Worldwide Developer Conference). For starters, the MacBook Air is going to become significantly more affordable – $300 to $700 more so, and MacBook’s now start at $999.

The 13″ MacBook with 2GB RAM, 160GB HD and GeForce 9400M graphics card can be had starting at $999. MacBook Pros start at $1199 and the MacBook Airs start at $1499, which represents a $300 drop from the previous entry-level Air. You can find all the new MacBooks on Apple’s site.

Dell Adamo notebook – thin & lightweight

Today, Dell released the Adamo, a thin and lightweight notebook that also comes with a higher than usual amount of style, at least from the Dell ranks.

The Adamo which comes in 2 colors (Onyx and Pearl (black & white)) seems to fall into the MacBook Air category of notebooks. At 4lbs and a claimed industry thinnest 0.65″ (16.4mm) profile, there’s no question that it does.

Other notable features for the Adamo include almost a 5 hour runtime and scalloped keys (they’re concave) on the backlit full sized keyboard.

Interestingly, the Adamo, unlike most other Dell systems isn’t highly configurable. It comes in just 1 of 2 specs.

Tech spec include:

  • either a 1.2 or 1.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU
  • either 2 or 4GB 800MHz DDR3 RAM
  • 13.4 WLED display (1366 x 768)
  • the screen is edge to edge glass like the Air
