DiskGO! 2.5″ Ultra Portable Hard Drive

DiskGO! 2.5

Yesterday we talked about my painful hard drive crashes in October (somethings gotta crash in October) and how I will save my personal information on a USB Flash Drive. Of course with USB flash drives limited in their size, I can only backup so much information.

I tend to keep ISOs of the programs I install and I would love to backup pictures and music, but the Flash Drive simply cannot store that data whereas the 100GB version of the DiskGO! 2.5″ Ultra Portable Hard Drive can. Larger than a USB Pen Drive or other Flash Drive, the DiskGO! is still small enough to carry in a briefcase.

Be kind to your data and back it up!

This is cool. Pardon the pun 😉 The Cool Fan Mouse by Logisys keeps even the most hardcore gamer or Internet surfer’s mouse hand nice and cool by blowing air on it through a number of circulation holes and shutters on the top and sides of the device. There’s an on/off switch on the side of the mouse. As if that wasn’t enough, there’s even an LED light that lights up the whole body.

ROKR is a Flopper

The long awaited iTunes phone, the Motorola ROKR, is a flop. In fact, according to this article, at a Engadget reader meet-up in San Francisco the device was booed when the Engadget editors held up the ROKR as a door prize!

While the ROKR apparently sounds great many of the features were poorly implemented such as needing to use a USB 1.0 cable to transfer music to the phone (at very un-whopping transfer speeds up to 12MB/s). Also, the phone should be able to connect to the iTunes server and download the music directly without needing a PC. Finally, why the hard limit of 100 songs?

Fisher FVDC1 CameraCorder

Fisher FVDC1 CameraCorder

We’ve seen more and more of the tapeless digital camcorders lately that save data on various memory cards instead. According to the specs on this digital camcorder, 512MB can handle 30 minutes of DVD quality video. That’s not too bad, but if you go on vacation or a graduation, you’re liable to want to record more.

These digital camcorders are great for most people, and will be great for even more people when larger capacity memory cards become available. Currently though, a 2GB memory card will give you 2 hours of DVD quality (compressed via MPEG4)!

Laser -based Parking Guidance System for 2-Car Garage

This simple yet effective system integrates into your overhead automatic garage door opener. It replaces the light bulb (although you can get an adapter to continue using the light bulb), and turns on when you open up the garage door shining a bright red light to the same 2 spots each time. You just need to drive your car to the same spot everytime and you’re golden.
