The upcoming Palm Centro, aka the Treo 800p (Fall 2007) will be the smallest Treo that Palm has put out yet. It will be approx 10-15% narrower, and the screen will be smaller, so this may appeal to folks who don’t like the current Treos’ bulk. Even bigger news is the price point of US$100 (with rebates and a plan), but a very attractive price for an even wider audience. Of course, with the ‘p’ at the end of the model #, this Treo will run PalmOS (Garnet for those of you keeping track).
At that price, I think that Palm stands a good chance of not only growing their base, but also putting smartphones into the hands of even more people as other vendors look to compete with them on price and features.
