25-Piece Stainless Steel Grill Set

25-Piece Stainless Steel Grill Set

Continuing the Memorial Day weekend theme of grilling, no Grill Geek should be without his or her trusty set of grill tools. Sharper Image has compiled 25 stainless steel tools into their grill set including the usual spatula and extra-long tongs as well as salt and pepper shakers and a corkscrew (don’t worry, the spatula has a built-in bottle opener for the beer crowd!).

One final word about the grill set, the whole set is dishwasher safe for a quick cleanup. That’s important in grilling. Now, let’s throw on some cow!

Weber Ranch Charcoal Kettle

Weber Ranch Charcoal Kettle

Since it’s Memorial Day weekend, the grilling season is just beginning for some. For me, it’s a year-round sport!

While I prefer to use gas for convenience, charcoal is still the preferred method to cook by grillmasters greater than I. If you want to be a grill purists and use charcoal, the Weber Ranch Charcoal Kettle is the grill for you. This isn’t your dad’s $50 charcoal grill, but if you are serious about grilling the $1k price tag won’t deter you from purchasing this beauty. The ginormous grill measures a whopping three feet across and with it’s high-domed lid, I’ve been told you can smoke an entire hog snout to tail! Mmmmm…. pork.

Are Big Companies Stupid? Onkyo suing over positive press!

Gizmos for Geeks features a daily article called “Gizmo of the Day” where the Geeks locate available products that are new and hopefully interesting. By scouring our favorite geek stores, attending trade shows, pouring through emails, reading manufacturer’s new product feeds, magazines and press releases, we choose the “Gizmo of the Day”. In a sense, we provide free advertising for various products to over 40,000 unique visitors a month (hence the reason we get so many “pick me” emails from various PR people about the products they represent!). Basically, we try to provide good karma for cool products and cool companies.

Apparently, Onkyo really does not like free advertising or positive press.

I received a cease and desist certified letter demanding that the “Infringer” (that’s me!) cease and desist from displaying Onkyo IP as well as several other items which really did not pertain to us. You have got to love good old form letters from clueless lawyers! All of this because on March 26th, 2006, we chose one of Onkyo’s products as the “Gizmo of the Day”!

There are several issues that really bother me besides the lack of common sense by Onkyo and their lawyers in killing off good press.
