Call your friend (on Skype), while you listening to Miles Davis (on iTunes) and check your email while you’re at it. It even keeps up with Twitter and systematically alerts you to upcoming kitchen repairs.
2. Solar Cell In Your Kitchen
Go green by making your own solar cell with nothing more than cheap items from the local hardware store… MacGuyver style. Takes little more than an hour to get it up and running, and Simon Field can show you the entire process.
3. Build Your Own Carbon Fibre Knife + Spoon
This carbon fiber cutlery makes stainless steel look drab in comparison. Each utensil is as light as a feather, incredibly sturdy and they never rust. Seeing that a knife alone costs about $100 in material, you can figure about $300 for an entire silverware set if you do it yourself.
4. LEGO Kitchen Counter
I’m not sure how fun this would be to clean, but a countertop made from LEGOs will earn you the undying affection of your little ones. Simon Pillard and Philippe Rosett (both designers) used fiberboard as a base, then wrapped the base with LEGOs to get the desired effect.
5. Kitchen PegBoard with iPad
This is a simple design that gets the job done. Pegboard is dirt cheap, and with a few strategically placed hooks it makes for a great iPad stand. If you’re a fan of scanning online recipes as you cook, this is the way to go.
