Remote Controlled Cooler

Remote Controlled Cooler

A cooler that is controlled by a remote is an awesome party gimmick. This little cooler rolls around on four wheels and is powered by batteries. The drinks can now come to you. No more carrying a handful of drinks for your party guests. The cooler allows you to bring the drinks with you. This cooler can hold two six packs at one time. It is also great for the lazy summer BBQ or resting in the hammock in the back yard. There is no need to get up because you simply use the remote and the cooler is by your side. This little gizmo will fold down for easy storage, so no more lugging around those big bulky coolers around that just sit there.

Alarm Clock: Hit the Target with a Laser Beam to Turn Off

When the alarm goes off on this puppy, you need to pick up the laser target and shoot the bull’s eye. The idea is that if you have to focus enough to do that, you’ll be sufficiently awake not to fall back to sleep easily.

I’m pretty sure I can ‘beat’ this, a.k.a. hit the target and fall right back to sleep. Unfortunately, it’s not a snooze, but a disable until the next day. No good. I probably need to hit at least 4 bulls to wake up! But for just $20, it may be worth a shot. Maybe, I’ll add it to my phalanx of alarm clocks.

Yes, in case you didn’t notice, we do seem to have a bit of a trend with the alarm clocks. We do love our sleep.

Pot-Tickers

Pot Ticker

This is an awesome addition to any kitchen especially for people who are cooking out of many different pots at one time. Mothers who are always burning one pot or the other will greatly appreciate this new product. A timer you can place on each individual pot with a potholder is a great idea. Most people only have one timer or if you are like me I use the timer on my microwave then use the watch on my wrist. I always lose track of the time because it can not warn me that the time is up so I usually burn at least one thing.

I cook three meals a day. With that many, I usually end up nearly burning something because not only do I have the dinner to deal with but I have two children who are screaming “is it done yet?!” By the time you deal with them you forget what pot you started first and how much time is left. This new gizmo will definitely eliminate that problem.

BedFan – Keep cool at night

This strange looking device is actually quite neat. It’s called the Bedfan and it’s meant for those of you that are ‘hot’ sleepers and need a bit more airflow around you but perhaps without the noise and space requirements of a floor standing fan. Also, this can be geared specifically for 1 sleeper, particularly useful if you share the bed with your significant other and they don’t want this additional air.

The Bedfan runs on just 12V via an AC adapter and pulls in air from under your bed and pushes it where you direct it, perhaps in between your bedsheet and blanket. The speed is adjustable and it can pump out 100 CFM of airflow.

The picture below will give you a better idea of how this works.

iRobot – Your Stock is Rising… Maybe?

I’ve really had a love hate relationship with iRobot, and I’m currently leaning towards hate right now as I’ve had issues with the two iRobots I’ve owned. Both iRobots had batteries that died quickly (less than a year) and neither of my iRobot’s were able to every dock by themselves as well. One of them started freaking out and iRobot’s response was send in to get it fixed for a hefty little fee. I now have two iRobots and neither work!

I’ve nearly written iRobot off until I received an email from “The iRobot Team” asking for iRobot owners to become part of a iRobot Advisory Panel. The iRobot Team mentions that the feedback from web-based surveys “will play an important role in the development and enhancement of iRobot products.”

The way I see it, these surveys can play out in one of two ways for iRobot. Either iRobot will legitimately use the data being provided and utilize surveys that will actually help shape their future products or they created a relationship with a marketing group to monetize their list of contacts. We’ll let you know…

Ziszor – Portable Paper Shredder

In the “is this really necessary” department, you’ll find the Ziszor handheld paper shredder. Everything in this day and age gets miniaturized, huh? The perfect use of this gadget for those on-the-go execs who need to shred ATM receipts or perhaps those guys in the West Wing who only seem to get information via little pieces of paper which they promptly eat. Kidding. But if they had a Ziszor, no more indigestion.

The Ziszor is 10″ long and weighs less than 1.5lbs, nice and light. It also has an attachable plastic bag to catch all those little shreddings. Is that a word? Runs on 4 AA batteries which is probably where a lot of the weight lies. You can snag a Ziszor from their site currently on sale for $40.

WattStopper’s Isole IDP-3050 Smart Surge Protector

Here’s the next logical step in smart surge protectors, the Isole IDP-3050 uses an infrared sensor to tell if you’re in the room or not and will shut off 6 of its 8 outlets automatically. That means you could plug stuff like your PC into 1 of the other 2.

The timing on how long it takes to shut off can be adjusted from anywhere from 30 seconds to 30 minutes. It’s pricier than some of the other ‘smart’ surge protectors, but the motion sensor definitely makes for a big coolness factor.

Aerogarden 3 Starter Kit (Aeroponic Gardening)

We first featured the AeroGarden a looong time ago when they essentially only had 1 model and since then AeroGrow, the manufacturer has launched a number of additional models including this new $100 model.

The AeroGarden 3 has everything you need to grow your own organic herbs and vegetables, using CFLs and less energy than a single 60W bulb. Using its built-in computer, the AeroGarden monitors and adjusts the nutrient delivery, light and water for specific plants. There’s also a reminder system to tell you when you need to add more water and nutrients.

Salter Nutri-Weigh Portable Dietary Scale

If like so much of the rest of America, you need to clean up your diet and eat less, then you should take a look at the tech world for tools that will help you in your quest. One such excellent tool is a scale, and today’s models use technology to give you even more relevant information.

Take the Salter Nutri Weigh & Go Portable Dietary Computing Scale. Whew, that was a mouthful (pun intended!) The Nutri Weigh calculates the nutritional value of food by portion size, using its database of 1400 foods! It shows you 11 different pieces of nutritional info on each of those foods.

Touch-free Paper Towel Dispenser

In the tradition of other touch-free/touchless gadgets, here is a touch-free paper towel dispenser. Works pretty simply – just wave your hand in front of the sensor and it starts pushing out half sheets, and automatically stops when it detects the perforated lines. It stops and locks the rest in place, so you can with just one hand rip off what you need without touching the rest of the roll.

Get and use this in your home to keep from spreading germs around. Just needs 4 D batteries. Get rechargeables!
