Microsoft shows off Street Slide, trumps Google’s Street View

I don’t know about you, but I use Google’s Street View option in Google Maps all the time.  It is just one of those completely ‘wow’ products that is also totally practical.

Well guess who’s knocking on the ‘wow’ door of street level imaging? Microsoft. They just showed off their new Street Slide (hmm… nice similar name) at a technical conference and produced a video showing it off.

Warning: the video narration is very bland, having been shown off at SIGGRAPH, but you can even watch it without sound and still be amazed. MS has only shot a few miles of streets to research and test the technology, so it’s going to be sometime before a ‘Bing Street Slide’ is widely available.
