Samsung YX-M1Z Helix XM2go Portable Satellite Radio/MP3 Player

Samsung YX-M1Z Helix XM2go Portable Satellite Radio/MP3 Player

The next step in the evolution of Satellite Radio/MP3 players is the latest portable being pushed by XM Radio. [Practically the same player is actually being sold by Pioneer as well (it’s called the Inno).] The Helix gives you access to 170 channels of XM Radio, *plus* a GB of storage space that can be used to store MP3s and WMAs, *and* record live XM radio for playback at a later time. 1 GB of storage translates into roughly 50 hours of play time, which is pretty considerable. This is all featured in a lightweight palm-sized unit with a 180×180 full-color TFT screen. If XM could figure out how to match the price of iPods on a byte by byte basis, then they could have an iPod-killer on their hands. Until then, it’s a Nano-sized player with the huge feature of being able to play XM radio.

Features:

  • Compatibility: XM satellite radio; MP3/WMA music files
  • Memory: Flash memory for up to 50 hours of recorded XM programming
  • Display: Color display screen
  • Transmitter: Built-in, wireless FM transmitter beams XM to any FM radio
  • Headphone jack: Yes
  • Weight: 4.5 ounces
  • Dimensions: 3.7 x 2.2 x 0.6 inches (H x W x D)
  • In the box: Helix XM2go Receiver, headphones, belt clip and all of the accessories needed for portable and home use

Price: $399.99

  1. How do you down load mp3 songs on the Helix. I hooked the USB to my desktop and nothing or no program pops up to follow. There has to be a way to down load music. Thanks, Bill
