Suppose you could watch every TV show you ever wanted to. Every sitcom, drama, news program, special, cooking show, adult movie, regular movie, children’s show, sports event. If you could indulge your taste in everything TV, would you still have enough time to eat, sleep, go to work, take care of the kids, do the housework, see family and friends and go to the bathroom? This question is not science fiction. Because of a new electronic gizmo that sits atop your TV, the digital video recorder, a.k.a. DVR, we are halfway to watching all the TV we want, 24/7. The DVR in its various versions offers couch potatoes much greater choice and convenience than its predecessor, the VCR.

Last Gadget Standing Winners at CES

Two products took the top honors in PC Magazine’s Last Gadget Standing contest. In this contest, audiences at the Consumer Electronics Show and visitors to pcmag.com narrowed a field of 32 products and services chosen by PC Magazine editors to 10 finalists. These finalists then competed at the Las Vegas Convention Center by giving four minute long demonstrations to a live audience, who then voted at the show , to name one finalist “The Last Gadget Standing”.
