Netgear Stora – store, backup, share and stream your music, photos, video and data

As consumers generate or collect an ever-increasing amount of digital content in the form of photos, music and especially videos, home storage solutions are growing in popularity. But what’s also becoming more important is that this content is accessible from anywhere and not just in the home. Netgear is one of the companies trying to solve this problem, and one of such product that fits the bill is the Stora MS2110.

The Stora has a very consumer-dedicated website that shows off all of its sharing and streaming capabilities, such as:

  • share your photos and videos with your friends
  • access your files from the Internet
  • stream music to your phone
  • push photos to your Facebook or Flickr accounts
  • Back-up your PCs and/or Macs

The Stora can hold 2 SATA hard drives, so you can mirror the data if you’d like for more protection. It ships with one 1TB drive for lots of initial storage.

Just one word of warning. Some of these features, particularly the sharing/access-over-the-Internet is only possible with a premium $20/yr service via Netgear’s Stora service. See the differences in features here.

ExpoTV – Share your opinions, earn rewards ($)

There are a number of community review sites out there, but ExpoTV is arguably the first one to combine video with consumer reviews and incentives in the forms of rewards, particularly monetary ($) ones.

Now you may be thinking YouTube or other similar video sharing sites already exist and you can upload whatever you want there. But what if you’re looking for a video review on a specific product or perhaps a brand? That suddenly becomes pretty tough on a YouTube, doesn’t it? ExpoTv has everything categorized properly.

The best part is that you can earn some cash doing this as well as becoming the resident expert on a subject and/or product line. Just sign up, pick an assignment and film away. Refer your friends and earn even more.

One more nice thing – your videos can also end up on real TV that’s seen in 25 million homes.

Deep Link to any spot in YouTube videos

Like linking or embedding YouTube videos in your blogs or web pages? But sometimes you just can’t find the right video that has the clip you want? So instead you link to the much larger video and tell your readers to skip ahead to a specific time in the vid.

Now there’s a better way. YouTube has just introduced a way to tweak the URL to get straight to the good part. All you need to do is append a time spot to the end of the YouTube URL.

For example, if you want to start a video playing at about the 1:03 mark (1 min, 3 seconds in), then you would simply append “#t=1m3s” to the URL.
