Popular Science awards PSP ‘Gadget of the Year’

Popular Science Magazine has awarded Sony’s PSP the ‘Gadget of the Year’ for 2005. Some of Popular Science’s runners up for “Gadget of the Year”, or what we at Gizmos for Geeks like to say “Gizmo of the Year”, include the Sony Walkman Bean NW-E300 Series, Nokia N90, Nokia N91, Sandisk Ultra II SD Plus, Delphi XM MyFi, Charge 2 Go and the Dish Network PocketDish. They mention “Movie, Music, Gaming… Is There Anything the PSP Can’t Do?”

While the PSP is quite cool, how many of your geek friends actually have one? I only know one! Also, the PSP DVD titles are limited as well as good PSP gaming titles. There are only so many times you can watch T2 or play Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories. In the past few months there have been quite a few more titles released and with the Christmas season around the bend (or in full mode as of the middle of August apparently), more titles are being released.

Perhaps I’m a cynic but I’m sensing that Sony and Nokia advertise with Popular Science.

What would be your number one pick for the top gizmo of the year?
