Music Gremlin – WiFi MP3 Player

Music Gremlin - WiFi MP3 Player

Interesting that Apple didn’t come out with this first, but I’ll bet they’ll be along shortly. It’s an MP3 player with WiFi. Now, you can get rid of that cable tethering your music source to your computer. The Gremlin can download music anywhere it can jump onto a Wireless network. The Gremlin also lets you catalog and organize your tunes without the need for an external computer app. For $14.99/month, you can get an all-you-eat subscription a la Napster, or you go the iTunes route and buy songs for 99 cents each. The Gremlin has a 8GB drive (approximately 2000 128kpbs MP3s). Here’s the best part – Gremlins can connect to each other in short range, allowing you to connect with friends and other users nearby, even if there is no Wi-Fi access point available.

For subscription members, the Gremlin does a great job of exposing you to new music via so-called “Gremlists,” which are regularly updated, pre-programmed playlists that are sent wirelessly and automatically to the device. In similar fashion, upgrades are also automatically transmitted to the Gremlin, making feature and software updates a painless process.
