Hitachi Blu-Ray Camcorder

Hitachi Blu-Ray Camcorder

Hitachi is first to the table with a Blu-ray Disc Camcorder. Actually 2 models. Both models capture and record 1920×1080 HD video (as well as photos) using a 5.3 Megapixel CMOS sensor, a 10x optical zoom and a high-def lens specifically developed for these Blu-ray camcorders. Essentially, 1 model records straight to Blu-ray disc while the 2nd can record to hard drive as well.

You can get 1 hour of HD video on a Blu-ray disc while the 30GB hard drive gives you 4 hours of video storage. Of course, you can also burn video on the hard drive to disc if you’d like. Naturally, with High-Def, one thinks HDMI connectors and the Hitachi camcorders have an HDMI out port. It also has USB (what doesn’t have USB these days, huh?)

The Blu-ray disc player itself can also read a variety of disc formats: BD-RE BD-R, DVD-RAM, DVD-RW, DVD-R (and DVD+RW on PAL systems).

Price: $1299 (disc only), $1499 (with hard drive)
(Please note prices are subject to change and the listed price is correct to the best of our knowledge at the time of posting)
