Dave mentions his first gadget was a cordless phone that he bought back in college. I remember purchasing my first cordless phone will I worked at Radio Shack my senior year of high school (I mention Radio Shack as a badge of geekdom). I thought this was one of the coolest gadgets I could get my hands on because it looked much like the Star Trek communicators and you flip it open.
