“12 Gizmos of Christmas”: #12 – Laptops, Notebooks and Tablets

The Gizmos for Geeks staff has researched through online and print media what the top gizmos and gizmo categories are for the 2004 Holiday season. Starting the week of November 22nd, each day we’ll count down the top “12 Gizmos of Christmas” by category. In each category we will include the current hotest selling items and what are on most gizmo-loving addicts wish lists.

The Geeks have determined the 12th most wanted Gizmo of the 2004 holiday season are laptops, notebooks and tablets. We decided to choose the top selling laptop vendors including Sony, IBM and Dell. Unfortunately we did not include any tablets as tablets simply do not sell as well as laptops.

Our first highlight is the Sony VAIO VGN-A190 Notebook PC.

The VAIO A190 is the desktop replacement notebook that can perform like an entertainment center. When connected to the AV dock, the A190 has the power of a TV tuner, video recorder and digital amplifier. Fully equipped with a DVD+R Double Layer with DVD+RW/CD-RW Drive, a 17 wide XBRITE LCD screen and powerful Intel Centrino Mobile Technology, this sleek and powerful tool will be all you need… wherever you go.

Next, we featured the IBM ThinkPad T42 Notebook PC.

IBM’s ThinkPad T42 offers the power of professional business workstation in a highly mobile notebook at just under 5 pounds. This ThinkPad T42 (model 23734WU) features one of the most powerful Intel Centrino processors available, with a 1.7 GHz speed, as well as some of the strongest security measures found on notebook, including a built-in fingerprint reader. Other features include a 40 GB hard drive, 512 MB of installed RAM, a CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo drive, 14.1-inch display, 54g wi-fi connectivity, and Windows XP Professional operating system.

The last and my favorite is the Dell Inspiron XPS which is Dell’s flagship gaming and multimedia notebook.

Take gaming and multimedia to the next level with Dell’s new Inspiron XPS notebook. Whether it’s playing the latest games, cranking up the volume on the best movies or listening to your entire music collection digitally, the XPS is ready for your next mission.
