Amazon announced a new benefit for Kindle owners that have an Amazon Prime membership called the Kindle Owner’s Lending Library.
Those eligible can choose from thousands of books to borrow up to a book a month with no due dates and no additional cost as a value-add to the Amazon Prime membership.
The Amazon Prime membership remains $79 a year, which gives you free two-day shipping on millions of products, plus unlimited instant streaming of almost 13,000 movies and TV shows.
I can get Kindle books through my library for free. Why would I pay for Amazon Prime to not own the book? Now if they took the Audible model, where I pay a set price a month for 2 credits, and each audio book is 1 credit, and did that with the Kindle, where I get to keep the digital copy? I'd totally be up for that. I think the ease of Audible is why I buy and listen to so many audio books now. I'd love if they used that model for the Kindle books.
