by William Appleyard on April 18, 2009

Spy cameras – nothing new here; hidden cameras have been around for years and have slowly made it from the upper echelons of the security services down to ordinary consumers like us. Here we’re going to feature some of the best hidden spy cameras that are available right now for an ordinary person.

calc-spycamStarting off our list is the calculator spycam, this very clever gadget allows you to do some calculations and can also record at a very nice 25FPS into 320×240 resolution on its 128MB internal memory – don’t worry though; it supports SD cards up to 2GB. The camera will record the video in AVI, MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4, VOB, DAT and ASF with a similar amount of options for photo and audio recording formats! What more could you realistically want in a spy camera? A cheaper price maybe – $349.99 Buy Now or look below for some cheaper ideas to invade your loved ones’ privacy have a laugh with.

Lots more spy camera gadgets after the jump.

Stylish Spy Camera

Next is this stylish Surveillance Camera Watch which is very clever in its camera positioning – the lens is actually hidden inside the ‘eye’ of the number 2 on its face (see the picture). This watch spy camera records at a 15FPS with a 352×288 resolution in AVI format and saves the video onto its 2GB internal memory. The watch is reasonably priced at about $168, but if you want a cheaper ($99) alternative with more memory you might want to check this out other model.

spy_camera_sunglassesMoving on. Take a look at these 1.3MP Spy Camera Sunglasses – no spy camera list would be complete without featuring a pair of spy sunglasses. This pair is particularly nice giving you a pair of stylish sunglasses that can record at a pretty amazing (for what they are) 1.3 Megapixels with a nice 1280×1024 resolution. Also included is an RF remote for really smooth, stealthy photos. Only $99.99.

XB30 Digital Spy Plane
Next on the list is the Estes RC Digital Spy Camera Plane ($148). This remote controlled spy plane can’t actually capture video but can take some very nice aerial photos (26 in one flight to be precise) – perfect for reconnaissance. Get the plane up and running in the air, grab your photos and land it and nip over to your computer where you simply have to detach the camera from the plane to upload your photos.

spy-carIf you’d rather a ground-based vehicle, not to mention a wireless spy camera, how about this remote control spy video car ($120) that transmits video wirelessly up to 75 ft away to a headset screen.

spycam_video_pen_cameraWhat spy camera list would be complete without a pen spy camera? This particular one can capture 640×480 AVI video, has over 4GB of internal memory storage (which means hours of video), and then connects to your computer via USB 2.0 to download that valuable video.

This fairly mini spy camera runs for 2 hours on it’s re-chargeable Li-on battery. ($100)

Please note prices are subject to change and the listed price is correct to the best of our knowledge at the time of posting

Of all the spy cameras you've discussed in this post, the stylish surveillance camera watch caught my attention. I like its concept, completed with its great features and a awesome look design! I really love it, its simple yet very elegant.

I agree with you that the watch is the best of the gadgets. I think the pen may also come in handy. Not sure about the calculator though…
