Review: Ballistic Men’s Extreme Black Dial Chronograph Stainless Steel Watch

Ballistic Extreme Men's Black DialWhen Watches Shop sent me the Ballistic Extreme watch for review I was thinking here’s my chance to really beat on a product to see if it lives up to the hype. In case you’re wondering if I meant ‘beat on’ euphemistically, read on!

So the Ballistic line of watches have the claim to fame of being virtually unbreakable – shatterproof, scratchproof, and tough enough to be run over by a truck.

I had a difficult time in doing the ‘tests’ since the watch was so eye catching. The watch in question was the Ballistic Extreme with the black dial (model #BWE101). The weight of the watch alone told me that it would stand up to a pounding. The casing and band made of stainless steel gives the watch a regal look along with the locking clasp which will keep the watch on your hand during any collision.

I was quite impressed with the fact that over a two week time period the watch kept just as accurate time as my Swiss-made watch.

Naturally I had to put the watch through the paces to test its ‘Ballistic’ name. The first obvious choice was to take a hammer to its face. I did not hit the watch as hard as I could but I was thinking if my Swiss watch took one of those blows I would be down a watch!

I also did the ‘car test’ – yes, I put the watch down on the ground and ran my car over it. Although I’ve seen the video and know what it’s supposed to take, it’s still incredible to see for yourself.

Next, I put it under the knife, so to speak. There was no scratching the shatter-proof, scratch-proof polycarbonate crystal. The watch delivered by continuing to tick and look as new as day I got it.

I would wear this watch purely for aesthetic value alone. Couple that with the fact that you can take a hammer, a knife and the weight of a car to it without a scratch and it seems like a bargain at just over £100.

I can’t wait to go to my local watering hole and show some people what my watch can do!

By the way, if you’re still not convinced, take a look at the video:
