Recon Instruments have announced their fancy new GPS goggles with head-mounted display – a world first. The real time-tracking inside the goggles allows you to see loads of different stats no matter where you are or what you’re doing.
Built primarily for use on the ski slopes, Recon Instrument’s goggles allow you to see your speed (both velocity of movement and downhill speed), temperature, and all the stats you could want to know about your current location in the world; everything from altitude to co-ordinates to elevation is covered. Hitting the ‘TrueStats’ button will let you bring all this up, and won’t distract you when you’re on the slopes.
The design incorporates the problem of you wearing gloves when skiing too – the buttons are strategically sized and positioned to allow you to still operate the goggles with gloves on. Price tag is CAD$429 (US$440) which, although expensive, isn’t too bad for what you’re getting.
