Nanda Clocky Alarm Clock

Review: Nanda’s Clocky, the Alarm Clock that Runs Away

Nanda Clocky Alarm ClockHow many times do you wake up to an annoying ringing alarm clock, hit the snooze (or worse yet turn it off) then fall back asleep. Even worse, you’ve hit the snooze so many times that the alarm turns itself off. What has your alarm clock cost you? You could have missed an important meeting, first period at school, your ride, Christmas, birthdays, morning bathroom trips – the list goes on.

Review: Moshi Digital Alarm Clock Radio with Voice-Recognition

Moshi Voice Control Digital AM and FM Clock RadioIf you’re a regular visitor to Gizmos for Geeks, then you know that we love our alarm clocks. And of course, we had to feature a voice-controlled alarm clock, namely the Moshi.

Well Moshi has a new model out, the Moshi Voice Control Digital Clock Radio, that includes an AM/FM radio, and we had a chance to test it out.

Lego Star Wars Alarm Clock

This alarm clock marries two of my favorite items together including Star Wars and LEGOs. The clock’s exterior is built from LEGO pieces while the clock features Japanese Quartz movement for the actual timepiece. The LEGO Star Wars Alarm Clock includes a buildable Blaster Turret and 2 minifigs (a Stormtrooper and Chewbacca).

In addition to the geekiness of combining Star Wars and LEGOs, the alarm can actually wake up the sleepy geeks too with a crescendo alarm which gets louder until acknowledged.

The Unix geek’s clock of choice – the Epoch Alarm Clock

thinkgeek epoch alarm clockAfter pranking you with the iCade for iPad, we figure we may as well lay some real gadgets from ThinkGeek on you.

Here is a super-geeky Epoch Alarm Clock, which can display the time in multiple different formats, including binary and hexadecimal. My favorite? Of course, it has to be why the clock was named: the time since the Unix epoch (Jan 1, 1970).

Yes, this also functions as a working alarm clock, with snooze, and has USB ports so you can charge up those gazillion USB gadgets you have. Now, if it only ran about the room like Clocky

Basketball Hoop Alarm Clock – make a basket to snooze the alarm

basketball alarm clockWoot! Another crazy alarm clock – this one makes you shoot hoops to disable snooze the alarm clock. By the time you make a basket, you’re probably going to be pretty worked up and awake.

I think after day one, I’d probably give up and just let the alarm continue!

Combination USB Speaker, Alarm Clock, Calendar and Night Light

retro-speakerHow many different things can you combine into 1 device and then of course make it USB-connected and -powered? Obviously the answer is infinite! Here’s another – an alarm clock, with a speaker and a calendar all modeled to look an old-fashioned radio announcer’s microphone (like the one Larry King has as a prop).

The speaker plugs into any 3.5mm audio device (like an iPod or other MP3 player). The clock itself is powered by batteries – another retro ‘feature’. I suppose for the low price, you can’t expect too much. Unfortunately, it’s missing the obvious feature – a microphone!

Rubik’s Cube Alarm Clock

Rubik's Cube Clock

Retro is in – it’s time to dig out all those Etch-a-Sketchs and Diablos and get playing! More alarm clock gadgets. This one looks like a Rubik’s cube, and includes time, date, alarm and temperature. To keep the cube theme going, you rotate the top row to switch between the different functions. Not as easy as pushing a button, but hey, you wanted a Rubik’s cube alarm clock, right?
