Another gadget that you take one look at and say to yourself “Why didn’t I think of that?” followed closely by “I need to get one of those!” Pretty simply, the magnetic paintbrush holder keeps your paintbrush from falling into your can of paint.
Simply clip it to the side of the paint can and place the (commonly) metallic part of the paintbrush on of the two magnetic strips. Voila! No more paint messing up the handle and then your hands. Love it.

In much the same way that certain diseases have been eradicated and we as a society have shed them from our collective consciousness, so one day we may forget that drunk driving was ever the scourge it is today. More than a few companies are working on solutions that will aid in this quest. Toyota is one of these companies.
They are developing anti-drunk driving equipment that would lock the ignition of a vehicle if high levels of alcohol are detected in the driver. The technology uses both a breathalyzer and photo recognition software. In the case of vehicles that are company/fleet cars, it will also alert the home office. Nissan is also working on similar tech. Kudos Toyota & Nissan.

I love this product. And for the price, it’s very practical and will one day probably save you a lot of money in paying an expensive plumber. It’s a see-through never-clog u-shape drain.
The PermaFLOW lets you use an external knob on the outside of the drain to move a wiper that clears out blockages and of course, you can see what’s trapped down there through the transparent material. No need to pour chemicals down the sink or call a plumber. It also claims to prevent clog build-up as opposed to the traditional P-traps.
An additional interesting feature is the bypass option that allows water to flow through an upper chamber if there’s a sudden buildup of debris.
The PermaFLOW is easy to install. You can retrofit a P-trap drain with the included adaptors that fit standard 1-1/2-inch (kitchen) and 1-1/4-inch (bath) plumbing.
PermaFLOW comes with a 10-year replacement warranty and is designed to work without problems with conventional drain chemicals.

The BlueAnt Supertooth 3 handsfree speakerphone takes car speakerphones to another cool level. The most interesting feature is that the S3 announces the name or ID of the caller when you get a call and you just have to say ‘OK’ to accept the call. Totally hands-free.
The Supertooth 3 connects to your cell phone via Bluetooth 2.0 and is a full-duplex speakerphone with DSP noise and echo cancellation, as well as automatic sound-leveling. You can upload the contacts from your mobile and it uses text-to-speech to do the announcing of the caller.
Gives up to 15 hours of talk time, and up to 800 hours of standby, and comes with a clip to attach to your car’s sun visor.

Here are some pics from the now infamous incident where the space shuttle Discovery tossed out some of their waste into space and ended up creating an interesting light show for some folks down on the planet.

Synctastic. Well at least if you have one of the supported phones. Google Sync now also supports Gmail in addition to Calendar and Contacts and works with iPhone, iPod Touch, Windows Mobile, and S60 devices.

I really like the idea of the Novatel Mi-Fi devices – a mobile Wi-Fi modem that lets you create your very own Wi-Fi hotspot anywhere there is Verizon or Sprint cell coverage. Sure, you have to have one of their broadband service plans, but the device is free (well, $0.01) when you purchase a subscription. It’s useless anyway without one.
The MiFi 2200 is compact (3.5″ at its widest) and thin (0.4″) so it’s easy to slip into your laptop bag. This EVDO Rev A modem has transfer rates in the 600Kbps to 1.4Mbps range, and can support up to 5 Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g devices. It runs on a lithium-ion battery that is rechargeable via a USB connection and gives up to 4 hours of active time and 40 hours of standby time.
As an example of what you might pay for broadband service, Sprint costs about $60/mo and Verizon has a few plans, one of which is $40/mo. Check with them for up to date numbers.
The Novatel MiFi 2200 seems perfect for small businesses that want to provide service to customers coming into their store or even their own employees; or perhaps if your job requires a fair amount of travel with other colleagues; or you’re a student that likes sharing. There are a lot of potential uses for this gadget.

Even today, in an age of improving standards support in Internet Explorer, a company working on cutting-edge web tech has been forced to abandon IE as a platform to develop for. This time, it’s the Google Wave team that has decided that IE’s JS and DOM rendering performance isn’t adequate to task of providing a desktop-like experience in the browser.
BTW, spotted this news over on SmarterWare, which is a great new blog by Gina Trapani of Lifehacker fame.
