Kill-A-Watt has expanded their product line to include a power strip so you can easily monitor the quantity and quality of your electrical power. Simply connect your electronics to the Kill-A-Watt PS, and it will assess how efficient they are while the built-in surge protection keeps them safe. Advanced features such as over current, over voltage, and no load detection provide clean, safe power to your expensive equipment.
You can verify the quality of your electrical power by monitoring Voltage, Line Frequency, Amperage, KWH, Current Leakage and more. The built-in “max amps” switch allows you to optionally select the maximum current (Amps) that the power strip will deliver to attached devices.
Oh yeah… the power strip provides advanced surge protection circuitry.

Android, the Google supported platform/OS for mobile devices, is starting to see the public light of day. The Android team has put together a bunch of live demos of the phone in action.
Having seen just a few of the many videos and images, I’m already looking forward to when I can have an Android-powered phone in my hands. You just need to take a look at this very quick video to see what I’m talking about.
Need more? You can see the whole lot of them over at the androidcommunity.com website.

Amazing! Say goodbye to those mediocre energy drinks and experience the newest energy rush available. These chips are packed with flavor and the caffeine many people crave through out the day. This product is not only a great snack, but it will give the energy boost that is regularly needed to make it to the end of the very busy work day. These chips will change the way you snack for good. No more boring coffee turning to slug in an overheated coffee pot. Tired of having to constantly clean your coffee cup because of old stale coffee leaving a dirty ring around the center? Well not any more, these chips will add a little spice or twist to the afternoon break. This should go well with caffeinated soap!

This may be quite a leak if it turns out to be true, but take a close look at this photo. Do you see the Apple logo? Recognize the approximate size? Yep, it’s an iPhone, but this time in white and very curvy.
A couple of Dutch Apple fan sites released this pic and more this week. I’m waiting for Apple’s lawyers to hit the fan and get these taken down; anyone interested in forming a pool?

There are already lots of timed sprinkler systems out there that help you to automate watering your lawn and plants to keep them looking their best, but you usually have to intervene when the weather threatens to make your sprinklers moot. For example, when it rains or gets too cold.
Enter Orbit Irrigation’s solar-powered wireless rain/freeze sensor. Ok, that was a mouthful.
Let’s break it down. This sensor acts together with the Orbit Professional Irrigation System (aka timed sprinkler) to detect when there’s rain (or even after it has rained) or when it’s freezing.
It communicates wirelessly to the Sprinkler system to let it know when to shut off and when it can resume operations. The last little perk is that this sensor has a solar panel to keep it powered without you needing to replace the battery or hook it into wall power.

Dell may have a mini Inspiron or Vostro laptop in the wings. So say the folks at Gizmodo who ran into Michael Dell himself toting one of these little lookers. The pencil in the image gives you an idea of the scale of it – probably an 11″ screen (hit the jump for the pic). Read the rest of this entry »

MacRumors discovered a patent application that shows that Apple is looking into integrating solar power into their handhelds and laptops. The most interesting part of this, apart from the green benefits, is that the solar panel could be potentially integrated into the LCD screen themselves, laying right under the glass and LCD layers of the screens.
If Apple pulls this off, this could be the move that gets me to switch my laptop to a Mac. I’m hardly a Windows zealot, but application support has had me sticking to Win32 for a long time, and now that XP has proven its relative stability, I hardly care to switch (the pretty graphics don’t tempt me). However, I’m keenly aware of my carbon footprint, and if there’s a way for me to reduce that without a real decrease in utility, then I’ll gladly use the Windows emulation environment if I have to.

Had to happen, right? Jumping rope is great exercise, but newbies tend to give it up after 5 minutes of tripping over the rope. Now you can do it wirelessly! The Jumpsnap ropeless jump rope has an LCD display built into the handles, timers, snapping sound (like the rope hitting the floor), tracks your time, # of jumps, calculates calories burned and your general usage on a per user basis, and even a built-in audible training program.
Certainly the JumpSnap isn’t cheap as compared to a traditional jumprope, but hey, think about what you’re getting.

Sleeping through the alarm in the morning can be a huge problem for some people. They just do not seem to be loud enough to wake the dead from their slumber. The sonic bomb alarm clock’s highest volume can ogo up louder than a jackhammer. If the sound is still not enough to wake you up, a bed shaker is also included. You can be introduced to the morning by having a jackhammer in your ear and an earthquake under your bed. There are three different settings that are surely enough to startle any one from their peaceful sleep. If this product will not wake you up, you should consider taking a trip to the doctor!

This is simply wicked cool. Although I’m not a huge fan of the iPhone, in terms of it being a cell phone, I’m immensely impressed by its touch screen interface. Here’s an example of that interface being put to amazing use by a company called Earthscape, who produces a virtual Earth app that is similar to Google Earth. Take a look at this video which shows how you can get the Earth to spin by moving the phone around.
