The technology week in View: December 14th 2007
This week I got hold a Nintendo Wii after a protracted but eager wait and to be honest the experience was far from what I was expecting which you can read more about in First impressions of the Wii. The games I have for the Wii include the sports pack, Catz, and a game based on the Ratatouille movie. My daughter likes the Catz game but only the mini game which she took to almost instantly. I just wish console games had a “quick replay” at the end of a game to quickly get back into the action. I aim to stick with the Wii and obtain a few other games so watch this space! GizmosforGeeks previously talked about the Wii in the Nintendo Wii article.
Exchange Server 2007 SP1 … the wait is over as Service Pack 1 is finally released by Microsoft which is very welcome indeed. I’ve been working with Exchange Server 2007 for some time now even more so since testing the Nokia E61i and trying to install SSL Certificates. The Exchange Server sits on a very nice HP DL380 G5 64-bit Server and I’ve recently been thinking about refitting our computer room in Re-Racking out the computer room.
Anyone who works with, in, or near technology has probably got a number of applications and web sites that are on their essential tools list. Quite often I update my list which I did recently over at Jasonslater.co.uk essential application list. A new addition to this list includes PortableApps which has completely changed how I see and use my USB pen drive. Believe me, if you thought a pen drive was just for storing files then you should really check out PortableApps. If you desperately need to convert a file from one format to another then you might find the pointer to the ZamZar website useful, you can read more about in my article Technology Blog of the week: 14th Dec 2007: The Savvy Technologist.
