Philips Demos Next-gen PVR
If you have a TiVo, you probably know that it has a feature called TiVo Suggestions, that suggests other shows you may like based on whether you explicitly say you like certain shows. Philips is upgrading that feature by making it transparent to the user. They’re dubbing it ’self-learning’. It monitors users’ preferences and can create personalized channels for them. Apparently, the software can also monitor multiple users as well, which is a needed feature, or you just end up with an aggregated set of stats for the box.
If you’d like to see a demo of this new PVR box up close, you’ll have to go to the IFA international consumer electronics show in Berlin this week.
