Quite a few news bits that we didn’t think needed their own stories:

Yahoo has gotten into the DVR game, by buying up a software DVR company, Meedio, and re-launching the product as Yahoo Go to TV. The sw turns your PC into a DVR; just hook your computer up to your TV/cable box. So far, it’s only in beta and it shows in the lack of hardware support and features. CNET reviews it.
Skype has managed to snag 100 million customers, up from 50M in Sep 2005. Not bad.
Internet2 researchers announced that they’ve set a new speed record - 8.8 gigabits per second. Download an entire movie in seconds. *drool*

Intel set to spend $1 billion to promote the Web around the world. Good for them. On the other hand, this raises the age old question about poverty and basic needs versus apparent luxuries.
Blogger speculates on a cheap Google PC-like device for home use. Would you buy it?
Michael Dell admitted in an audio interview to being interested in selling PCs running MacOS. That should be very interesting. I think Apple should listen. It would certainly push the sales of MacOS way up. Now all Apple has to do is create some kick-ass, must have application that Mac users want and voila - another $ windfall.
No word on when this is coming out, but get set to receive ad-based TV programming pushed over the Internet to your TiVo.
