Remote Control X-UFO

We found out a couple days ago that other Geeks are as interested in indoor remote control flying contraptions as we are when FARK picked up our Gizmo of the Day article on the Remote Control Indoor Butterfly Flyer. While searching our favorite sites, we ran across another such gizmo, except this involves yet even another geek passion… UFOs!

This 2005 Toy Innovation Winner in the Technology Category finally makes use of the technology uncovered years ago at Roswell!

Remote-Control Camera Pan Base

Remote-Control Camera Pan Base

The Remote-Control Camera adds panning ability to any camera (wired or wireless). This gizmo can pan your cameras up to 370 degrees and you can remotely control the movement from up to 150 feet away.

Too bad the camera base cannot be controlled from a web site. There are several products that have that ability, but pricing is a little spooky on them.

Voice Analyze your Lover

| Posted Apr 27th, 2006 by Chief Gadgeteer [e-mail, website]

An Israeli company, Nemesysco Ltd., has taken voice analysis technology previously only used by law enforcement and the like, and applied it to the business of ‘love’. They’ve come up with a line of products that supposedly can tell you whether or not your Significant Other or love interest is being honest with you. One of those products is the Online Love Detector which you call and then in turn call your SO. The current drawback is that if you’re using a cell phone, the mobile provider must be compatible with the service. I guess this company must just be getting started around the world, since they only list 3 providers, but I can see this being a hugely popular tool.

INSTEON ToggleLinc V2 Dimmer

INSTEON ToggleLinc V2 Dimmer

What’s this? The Gizmo of the Day is a light switch?

We’re not being anti-climatic… actually, the Gizmo of the Day is perhaps the smartest toggle style dimmer switch because it is INSTEON-enabled. Smarthome finally released the toggle-style dimmer a couple days ago for purchase and the Geeks decided to feature even though it’s still a pre-order item (we tend to wait until you can get your hands on a gizmo before featuring). Personally, I’m still a fan INSTEON SwitchLinc V2 Dimmer fan.

MPEG4 Video Recorder Digital Answer To VCR

Peripherals specialist Pinpoint Consumer Electronics has launched a major video recording solution that is the perfect accompaniment to the record breaking Sony PSP and other portable media players.

The Neuros Video Recorder is the most convenient, efficient and affordable solution to converting video files into MPEG4 format. Operated using the same principles as the VCR, the device records from any video source (including TV, camcorder, DVD player and satellite) onto a Memory Stick Pro Duo or Compact Flash memory card. The recorded video files can then be played back on the Sony PSP, Video iPod, PDA, Smartphone and laptop by transferring the memory card to the chosen media player.

Skins for your iRobot

| Posted Apr 25th, 2006 by Chief Gadgeteer [e-mail, website]

Here’s a brief on an somewhat interesting market niche that no one thought of to exploit or even explore prior to this company: skins for iRobot’s Roomba and Scooba cleaning robots. You can get skins featuring professional sports teams from the NBA and MLB, college logos, or ten different colorful designs, or turn your photos into customized skins. So I can get Lakers logo on my Roomba, huh? Who knows? Maybe this *will* take off. Here’s the press release.
