New 2GB Flash Memory Chips
Sweet! Samsung just brought out a 2GB flash memory chip. 2GB. You can stack 16 of these together to get 32GB of storage, and you would still have a pretty small device. For some folks, 32GB will be more than enough to store their entire music collection without needing a volatile, power-hungry hard drive.
This is exactly what I’ve been waiting on. Soon, PDAs and handheld laptop-type devices can be run completely with this type of storage, almost eliminating the frailties of hard drives. Won’t it be cool when you’ll be able to walk around with the power of your home desktop machine in the palm of your hand?
