World Future Society Conference to be held in Chicago

Many people talk about “thinking outside the box,” but the folks at the World Future Society actually live there. Their futuristic thinking will come to Chicago, by the truckload, in less than two weeks as the society brings its annual seminar, WorldFuture 2005, to the Hilton Chicago on July 29. The meeting, which bills itself as “the world’s fair of ideas,” will feature academics, consultants, lawyers, policymakers and researchers discussing technology’s social implications. One course that runs for two days–”How to Think Like a Futurist”–is an intensive introduction to studying the future that promises to supply useful techniques “including trend identification and extrapolation” and various methods used to create informed speculation.
